BTW, my band plays the same era music as you do.. classic rock, with classic 80's metal and early thrash thrown in.

It plays all these styles perfectly and cuts through very easily. My drummer is the Sanctuary Drummer ( maiden tribute band,) and plays very loud, my amp has no problem and I set my volume at about 11 o'clock. ( 4 )

It is an unbelievable amp and I love mine !

Sounds like you described the XTC. I'd recommend picking up one of those.

XTC would work. So would a JVM. I'd go JVM personally after owning both, but YMMV. Also, check out Peters. I've never played one, but will in about a week or so.
