I kept reading the Marshall replies and thought I made a mistake recommending the Boogie.I love all the Marshall'ish recommendations when he said he's looking for something different.
I think he said he's tried most Marshall variants. I like the Mark and Bad Lander recs
Yes he does!Germino’s are very accurate Plexi clones for less money than a bunch of stuff that’s in the same wheelhouse. Charlie Starr gets monster tones out of them, especially with P90’s
I agree. I picked up a VII earlier this summer and it is my favorite channel switcher ever. Epic tones on all 3 channels.I picked up a Boogie Mark VII a few weeks ago. Outstanding amp. The mid gain tones from the 2B mode are just killer! I can also coax an XTC blue channel out if Mark VII mode. The cleans spectacular as well. And then of course 2C and IV modes. The IV used to my favorite mark amp. The VII takes its place. Blows the V out of my he water. My opinion of course. But it certainly fits your description of wants.
I stand by my Hiwatt Custom 50 or 100 rec, and also think the fat and percussive raw tone from the simpler preamp of a Plexi is not easy to find in most modded high gain amps. Does it sit in certain similar frequencies? Sure. But does it have that same depth, feel, and response as a jumpered 4 holer? I don't think most do.I love all the Marshall'ish recommendations when he said he's looking for something different.

Ditto - if money isn't a problem, get a Wizard MC - MTLDeliverance.
