Hey, im new here, and, ive been seeing a lot of GOOD GOOD support from a user named Yeti.
I want to start by saying,
I LOVE MY TOURMASTER 4212.
I LOVE ITS TONE SO MUCH, SO SOO MUCH.
ITS THE GREATEST THING IN THE WORLD.
And, i love how you defend the Egnater brand.
Yes, i agree, the "made in china" stuff is wayyy over rated.
I strongly think this amp can compete with ANYTHING else out on the market.
Ever since Ive played this thing, ive loved it,
i can play the same riffs on each of its 4 different channels, and it sound like a completely different song.
simply, AMAZING amplifier.
But ive run into a problem.
My amp has NEVER had noise. ever.
And today, all of a sudden it suffered a LOUD buzz that over took the ENTIRE sound.
Ive been running TWO pedals into the Clean 1 channel set to modern.
Gain set exactly to 12 o clock.
i run an Electro Harmonix Meta Muff into an MXR Dunlop 10 band EQ.
i turn my amp on standby, then wait 30 seconds, then engage the pedals and play,
or sometimes standby, engage pedals, then play.
BUT I ALWAYS WAIT FOR STANDBY.
Ive accidently left the standy on for 6+ hours before, maybe 5 times, with no adverse side affects.
today, i came home from work, and the problem started.
i disengaged the pedal, but then, Egnaters footpedal began to cause the LOUD noise.
So i unplugged the foot pedal, and started to expirament.
Now, the noise is only a low level hum, but when the pedal is engaged, its quite annoying.
I removed the backplate and switched out pre amp tubes v7, v8, and pretty much ALL the tubes for v1 except v5.
I use contours for EVERY channel, so i left v5 alone.
I engaged the pedals, set it up on standby. and then turned on the Play.
NO NOISE.
Then it slowly crept in.
I switched out another tube for v1, and then NO NOISE,
but then it slowly crept in.
i later switched out v5 for v6, and, it still creeps in.
my poiint being,
it sounded good for a while, like, the noise wouLdnt creep in for a long while, now it does EVERYTIME after about 30 seconds.
...
OKAY, i was writing this as i was repairing the amp.
I have NO MORE NOISE.
Set up the amp back into the wall where it was originally located, very few outlets on this circuit, and i have my completely quiet, wonderful sounding baby back :')
Now, other than leaving it on standby for such a long time for so many times,
there was also a power outage here during a storm.
my amp is plugged into a surge protector, but i cant for the life of me remember of one of the days i left it on was the day of the outage,
because they only went out for a second according to the other residents of the house, and when i got back from my job, eveything was fine, i didnt know about the outage will WAY later that evening.
WOuld any of these effect my amp?
How do i know if one of the trannys is going out (for future reference).
What could that noise have been? im worried about the over all health of my baby.
I dont have a lot of money.
i bought this new on credit from ZZOUNDS,
and the first one the sent got beat up in shipping (the back plate was pushed in, one of the speakers was pushed in causing the threads of the screws holding it in to shear, anddd popping one of the power tubes.
so, getting THIS one as a replacement (ZZOUNDS totally replaced it for me), meant the world to me,
and i love it to pieces, I LOVE THE TOURMASTERS SOUND.
It really makes mt music so creamy when i use the neck pick up and my music bright and clear when i use the bridge pick up.
I dont want anything ever to happen to her to where i cant fix it :'(
Can you help me by answering these questions so i can look after its health. Please.
