Not sure if anyone remembers my sob story from this past summer, but my 2-year old daughter spilled a can of soda into my Mac's keyboard and fried it  . (She's too damn cute to be mad at though ;) )

I took it apart after a few days of drying and saw some corrosion. Sent it in to the closest authorized Mac service shop and they quoted me...get ready...$1200-1500 to repair/replace the Logic Board. :scared: (don't EVER go to Happy Mac in Wausau, WI) Yeah, so needless to say, I said WTF, are you guys insane?!! And I took it to an actual Apple Store.

They basically suck too. Said they could repair the board for around $350, but, since the soda caused corrosion and it was obviously a spill, they would charge around $800.. Seriously??? So, they can fix it for one price, but they won't because of the way it was damaged? That's just fucked up and wrong.

Right before I was about to throw my laptop out of my window (literally) and buy a cheap pc on ebay, I stumbled upon a place called Notebook Mechanix on the bay. I figured what the hell, I'll give it a shot. To get to the point, basically they were extremely quick and helpful, remained in contact with me throughout, and they actually got this thing running again!

After it was all said and done, they repaired the logic board and upgraded my RAM for just over $250!!! How great is that?

Another reason I'm happy is I didn't have to sell my Presonus Firestudio (since NO new laptops under a grand have firewire ports anymore) and I can finally make some clips of my Mark IV and Addictive Drum software I got earlier this year, which I haven't been able to do yet Woo hoo!

Thats cool man!
Glad its up and running.
I hate computers.

Thanks Dan! Yeah, they suck. And I'm realizing that even more, now that I'm going to school for it.

I couldnt read your story because of your avatar.. but I do hope they suck :D

But we will still have FireWire for the foreseeable future, right?

$250, not bad at all. Congrats. Glad you didn't lose it and throw it out the window. I've been close to that a few times.

And yeah-your avatar

That is awesome. Glad you found someone to fix it for you!
