He's gone through his rig before and it's always the same 5150 head and SD-1 setup for recording it seems. He did say on the TTAOE bonus DVD that he also uses a Line 6 (Flextone II) head for additional low end. I don't know if he used that for the blackening or Unto the Locust, though.

the Axe Fx change came about prior to their touring for the Mayhem Fest this year.

holy fuck, just heard "who we are today" on liq metal...finally...a new MH song...

i have to say, MH have become one of my fav bands and really have grown on me (despite the fact that yes, above, i said i was sick of the locust song <all day, every day, top of the hour for a month, at work....i get to listen to my sirius>.
Rob was guest hosting playing the tunes, and also told the story about his house getting broken into, which i ddin't know about, and how his family was freaked out, and the kids were scared....it chilled me to the bone.... my kids will love this song, esp my 7 year old daughter, she's metal to the core, but loves any song with kids in it. The story of how he wrote this song and then presented the demo to the band, etc etc.. was really intriguing to hear....i love hearing the behind the scenes type shit like that. i'm getting this album.

he just started using the ultras. I believe he recorded using the 5150 stuff

Is this why Brad was buying up a bunch of Ultras here a while back?
