Rabea gives us a taste of the new JCM 800 Modified

This Buckwheat wanna-be is nothing but a shill. Everything he demos is the greatest thing he's ever heard. He's upstairs in his parent's house making his shill demos.
Honestly, I hate this MF'er. Another YouTube con artist.
Fuck you Carl

Guys like this who are killer players and run it through their DAWS and IR's can make any amp sound killer. AND it will not sound like that at all when you get it....

I am borrowing a 1988 800 modded and with a Mr scary in pre amp and don't like it at all. Cannot wait to get my Slo 30 back that I temporarily traded it for
So why not get the IRs they use if you think it sounds so good that way? Seems like an easy thing to attain.

I got nothing against the guy.

IMO the video sucks because the amp sucks. Shit amps don’t inspire and get the creative juices flowing. They just aren’t fun to play and the video seems forced.

Plus the tone is just awful. Sounds like the amp is struggling or falling apart on the top end like the bias is set wrong or something is failing.

I have "0" experience with IR's. Do they really make everything sound the same?
I don’t think so. I’m not some full on expert either. But I’ve been finding some really nice IRs. I think the trick is to go for really raw sounding IRs. That’s the type I like. Not eq’d and messed. I think that is where the “all sound the same” thing comes from. Everyone choosing similar, sweetened IRs. Or the first one out of the pack. Got to dig a little, just don’t go insane.

Plus setting the amp to the new sound. Don’t assume the settings or gain you have with the cab in real life will be the same.

Finally, getting used to the close mic’d, recorded sound. This was the hardest for me. So used to room reflections. That’s not how recordings are done though. I’d never been in a studio or anything before. So I was shocked when I first started hearing close mic’d tones.

you completely missed my point. Going thru a DAW with IR's is easy to massage a tone and will sound nothing like the cab cranked int he room

For $3300 bucks I am close to affording a used Wizzer. This doesn't make sense even if it was amazing sounding.

don't get me wrong, they seem awesome, I want to learn. I just don't have any kind of gear that captures stuff, or could use them. I need to get with the times in a big way.

Guys who peddle their digital wares through the playground fence at your school aren't who you want to be messing around with. Stay Gold Pony Boy.

- Suhr reactive load
- Computer
- Recording interface
- Monitor speakers

Yep, it is an outlay. But it has been worth its weight. Even minus the IR thing. I use my PC to practice, jam, learn, keep in time. The most invaluable tool.

Then when you’ve done the nerd stuff all week, you crank out the amps and cabs and get the testosterone back! 😂

It would be so convenient for just getting ideas down, seems like it would be ideal. Once I get better at playing, I plan to move on to recording. I might be pushing up daisy's by that point though.

when you say recording interface, you mean the physical interface, plus some kind of software that can use IR's right? It's pathetic how little I know considering I work in IT :(

It's always a convenience thing, I know. BTW I heard some of your videos the other day. You are a fine player bro. Don't be so hard on yourself that you let some street urchin push you into a digital habit.
