I bought one.

You would probably be the man to ask about poweramps. What's your favorite for a tight big thumpy lowend? I want to try a VHT badly, but I'm a little worried it will be too dry for me. I like a tiny bit of sag. Any recommendations? I see you've also used those huge Rivera poweramps. Badass?

Everything sounds the same to me. I don't care about anything any more.

Actually, Yes, the Riveras have a little more sag. I attribute a lot of this to the fact that 6550's are dry and tight as hell in ANY amp.
I imagined your avatar saying that.
thanks for the Rivera info, any particular models to look for?

That thing is pretty enormous. It looks cool though. I hope that the sound is still of good quality, considering he couldn't run the same components as his standard models.

How big would a mono-block be? If he uses the same transformers as James Peters, it'll be at least 4 spaces too.

TBR-3 hammer 120 = practical, more than loud enough, still over the top awesome. Cheaper to retube the TBR-5. Weighs a LOT less than the TBR-5. Fairly easy to work on. etc.

That thing looks bitchin! Thats a MAN's preamp. What are they going to sell for?

$850 shippped is the pre-order and intro price. Then I think they will go up to around $1k.

That is a hell of a deal for a 4 channel all tube preamp! Especially when you compare it to other popular tube pre's out there right now

oooh, that thing looks mean, thanks for the recommendation man.

I wonder if I could just plug that into the poweramp of my VH4? Right into the loop return?

Yes you can. I do that with amps all the time.

For $850.00 that is cheap. How long for some clips? :D

It should be less than 2 months.
Or, at the very least, I'm going to start losing my mind from the wait in about that time.

Yep. He said it was 8-10 weeks out as of 4/7/2010.

I think I am gonna preorder one of those.

I am actually picturing a rack with this preamp and a Mesa Simul Sat with graphic EQ

sometimes i hate you guys. where is the info at? went to a website which directed me to an older website which didn't have any info.

Andrew's doing all of his updating via Facebook.
You've just got to join the Mako Amplification group for all the info.

I don't have a Facebook account. :aww:

No matter. I'll just wait for it to arrive at my door. Just placed my pre-order. :)

So are these going to be versatile ? - obviously the clean and crunch will be pretty conventional- but do the other amps referenced do voicings besides Metal ?

It IS BIG ! Will I have to have a 3 Feet Wide six feet long guitar made for it if I order one ? A Jurassic Strat ?

The Makoplex channel if anything like the actual amp will do pretty much anything from plexi to thrash tones, the Dorado is more modern, not sure about lower gain settings on it, I've never played one..... but the Makoplex is by far one of my favorite amps.

I ordered one, and I am planning on using it with a PA power amp for now, and building a power amp eventually. 400 watts a side at 8 ohms, 600 at 4 ohms. I will be running my cab a 4 a side. I have always been interested in comparing a high headroom ss power amp with a tube power amp.

I am also thinking about getting some Eminence Delta Pro 12a speakers

Saw this about a week ago and ordered one,he said it would be
up to 3 months to get but no biggie.I'm hoping it sounds like they
say it sounds.
If anybody else buys one you can pay half now, balance later,if paid
by check, credit card is payment in full.
Now to match up a power amp.

Social media is going to pretty much take over the world. Why wouldn't you have a Facebook account?
