She was admitted and he was told he was not allowed inside with her - this would be the last time he would ever see her.

He attempted to visit her and was told he was not allowed - again. About two weeks after her admittance, he received a call that they were ventilating her. Again, he tried to see her and was threatened with arrest. This happened twice more as he was worried sick and freaking out as he never imagined any of this. A week or so later he received the call that she was dead.

That was 2021 and he's still dealing with this, it really, really fucked him up as he has gone back and forth with what-if scenarios of not taking her to the hospital but the worst part is he took her to the hospital not knowing it was the last time he would ever see her and feels it is on him for going along with that decision to take her.

That's entirely messed up. I've heard of that sort of thing. Sorry to hear. How old was she btw?

Wow. I can't imagine having to contend with that. I hope he finds peace, and perhaps he deserves justice. What does he think of the hospital's health reports and course of treatment?
 
Some doctors moving away from ventilators for virus patients

NEW YORK (AP) — As health officials around the world push to get more ventilators to treat coronavirus patients, some doctors are moving away from using the breathing machines when they can.

The reason: Some hospitals have reported unusually high death rates for coronavirus patients on ventilators, and some doctors worry that the machines could be harming certain patients.
