i look at it this way--liking what i have is exclusively my trip.

i video demo what i have instead of verbally demo/explain because i don't want to get into an argument about what something sounds like when i can demonstrate audibly what it sounds like and show you how i approach it.. and even then people complain they can't hear the amp i'm playing..too much effects...or they bought the amp but can't get the sound i'm getting. and many people would rather type about their pile of amps then let you hear them play because.....well....they can't play. but they can sure buy the heck out of those 2-5k amps skillfully, those wallet monsters.

doug roccaforte had a great signature for a while about cork sniffy articulating about subtle lingerings and a smokey finish...classic! but he was pointing out the nerds who pull out their 40k dumble, sit by the fire in their smoking jacket with a snifter of brandy, and pluck one note, nodding wistfully at the sound. then turn off the amp to relish another day, feather dust their investment in case they have to flip it, and type all night on a forum about their "experience".

many guys would rather join a particular amp owner's club so they can discuss it rather than enjoy the amp and do the amp/maker justice by playing it well.

dough roccaforte..was that quote said before or after he slammed the super hot woman du jour because she had 'too much body fat' =D

If anyone else, makes fun of my road worn Fenders, I'll cry.

I don't like them... I didn't make them road-worn from years of gigging in my basement therefore they're for poseurs.
I know you joke.
I take very good care of them to not allow anymore dents or wear. Fender did a perfect job aging the guitars with old looking marks, but any more marks would be 'new' marks and they would not be authentic and would hurt the resale value and my cherished love for them.

I actually think reliced guitars look great. God knows I'll never relic them since I'm a basement-dwelling hack... LOL! :D

I think it's quite comical when someone sells a reliced guitar and says it is mint. I mean, how are you supposed to know?

"It's mint except for that one chip right there" (circles small chip on an otherwise beaten up guitar)

I don't worry about gear!

I get more upset over people that like the new breed of "cookie monster" metal or glamour boys like Avenged Sevenfold and don't have a huge appreciation for AMAZING bands like Dokken, Ratt, Lynch mob and the LEGENDARY White Lion

These guys play awesome music and look COOL!

You can just see Lynch's rage over Dokken forcing him to wear this outfit. He has said in interviews he came close to beating the shit out of him over it...

Steve

that's why he's wearing red! To depict his simmering anger!!!

Seems I've gotten gear recently to specifically get comments out of people and to drive them nuts.

I while ago I started showing up at blues gigs with a Charvel and Ibanez. Then I started rolling into those gigs with a JCM800 100 watt head.

Then I started showing up at my church to play with an Ibanez and Les Paul and a wah pedal and fuzz.

Just recently I got a 150 watt Triple Rec to bring to my pop/rock band gigs. My singer is confused.
Maybe I'll roll that Rec into church one of these days..........

My point being that a lot of guys my age are using 18 watt combo's and vintage or vintage style guitars. I used that crap for years and I'm not interested in it any more.

I play what I want to play and I don't care what anyone thinks. They may look at it and go WTF? Then when I start playing they STFU.

sometimes I'd go to a gig without any of my gear....I'd get some house flatware and just go apeshit on the spoons..many a person complimented me on my handbone skills I can tell you that

I'm gonna start showing up to blues gigs with an Ibanez and an iRig with my iPod touch (set on the 5150 model). That should make some old guy's head explode.
