Mammoth new tune!

I think it's a cool track. We would all love Van Halen 2.0, but that's not who he is. I don't think Eddie wanted him to be a copy either. I appreciate it for what it is. Well written rock music. He could absolutely go full shred, but that doesn't sell as many albums. In the end, he is in the music business. And if you're not selling its game over. I wish him a long and successful career.

I like it, and like Wolfie. He's got skills and a sense of humor. He's forging his own path.
I truly wish him all the success he desires. I bought the first on, and I'll buy this one too.

Dig it. The background harmony changes tying the chorus together is super.

And then, there's the appearance of THAT tone. Heavens.

You hear that tone with the Frank, which has the much hotter pickup in it now...and I can hear exactly the sound Reinhold was chasing with the 100b after poking around 12301 way back.

Fantastic solo, the song is really great too, he's definitely forging his own path and writing good rock music, not just doing any old shit on the back of the VH name. Great stuff

Wolfie says that he used his 5150lll 50 watt 6L6 head for take a bow.

Never mind, now he says he used the orginal franky and marshall for the lead.

That solo...seriously?! farrrk a duck that's good.

Apparently the solo is the original Frankenstrat through Ed's original Marshall and his original cab

Starts out like a Foo song, then sounds Myles/Slash at the change. I've listened couple times. It's kinda boring. I think a different singer could elevate it.

I try not to be too negative on judging music, and WVH is obviously very talented....But to me his music sounds like very pedestrian adult rock. Like it could be playing in the background of a Chevy or Capital One commercial in a few years. I actually feel the same way about most of the Foo Fighters music over the last 10 years.

Safe tune, killer solo. I’d be nice to hear him rock out more like DLR VH, and make it his own.

exactly. i have no clue how the music industry works when you get to the level of a Van Halen, but listening to his music it sounds to me like someone might have said "woflgang, Chevy has a few commercials planned for the football season and theres a summer stadium tour sponsored by Capitol One that has an opening, these companies really like the sound of other modern stadium bands like Foo Fighters and Shinedown...". i hope im completely off with that assumption but either way it just sounds like guided "safe" radio rock, it is solid though

id bet many would actually be pissed :dunno: "how dare this shitty band rip off an eddie solo for clout what assholes.."

Doesn’t even sound like an EVH solo to me… too fragmented and doesn’t really have the swing or feel.

Imagine if the frankenstrat was lent to nickel back for one track lol…the heavens would part and all of the EVH fans collective fury would be unleashed lolol

This is what I don’t like with all his songs, the majority is kind of “safe” sounding arena rock, but then he throws a cool riff in where I say that should have been the main riff.. the solo is cool but doesn’t really fit the song too well I don’t think. Feels to me like he is trying to write songs acceptable to play in stadiums while trying to keep his fathers fans happy but that’s just my useless opinion lol
I agree. I mean for the genre, these are good songs. They tick all the boxes of being well written, well sung, well performed. He is multi talented. Like a Grohl on steroids but the music is Def. Safe and a lot of it forgettable to me because there are likely going ro be others from him that sound the same. Not to fault him though, he is a product of his own influences and the music he grew up with, not the music we grew up with.

So is that THE marshall? Sounds amazing. I wish Ed would have recorded more with it himself. Just has that grind. I really liked the solo. The tapping was cool but it was more the lead up to it. Didn't blow my socks off, just very well written. I think the kid is doing a great job, the music just isn't for me. Drums also sound over produced.

Obviously the young man is talented.

But, I do think he needs to put down the perfectionist attitude and let his artistic-ness flow.

I think that will come with experience, I look forward to his future more mature music writing.

And I think part of the problem is his charmed upper class life, not that he is conceded or anything but his music needs some soul.
