Joe Perry is touring in Friedman style. I just seen a video from a few months ago on Youtube. He has like 5 or more Friedman cabs and 2 Dirty Shirleys..possible BE too. Along with a assortment of other amps and cabs. But Friedmans dominate his frontline. They are coming near me within the next few months. I hope to see and hear Joe with the Friedman line then.

For me I really dig the Browneye head. Im a Marshall guy at heart and it sounds like a really good pissed off Marshall to me.

The Dirty Shirley is great as well if I have a Tele in open G and ant to play some roots rock or Hendrix esque stuff.

The Naked is not my cup of tea as I don't do 7 strings or down tuned stuff.

The Pink Taco is great for at home guys who want the tone at a low volume but of course it doesn't have the girth of the big 100w head.
The DS does way more than just classic stuff. If you swap the tube rectifier for a solid state, it gets a similar tone to the BE with a little thicker mids. Kinda JCM800ish. It seems to react to single coils a little better though and cleans up with the guitar's volume like a champ.
could you be kind to talk a bit more about the rectifier swap on the DS

  Have you been on the 405 lately? That's gonna take a major mental commitment and some serious hourage.  And North Hollywood is scary. :D

Dave, with everything in his stable amp wise, really only needs to add one of those midi'd out mega switchers now. Y'know, couple of masters, dual loops, dedicated clean, maybe 3 channels ect. - a hybrid hand-wired PTP/midi monster. It'd be cool also to see from him some priority rack and pedalboard stuff that he uses and being how he is the ground loop/isolation transformer/buffer king, maybe something along those lines as well.

If he made that. I would immediately put money down.

The only other thing I can really add is that the solid state tightens up the bottom end a bit while retaining the original tone. The tube rectifier offers a little more sag than I desire. With the SS it's perfect for me. And for $15 it's definately worth a try. ;)

Brad, the Naked isn't strictly a metal-chug type of amp though, is it? I mean, it's most famous for the tones on Mer De Noms (APC) and that is just a good hard rock tone. Tuned down a half-step/drop C#. From the few clips out there the Naked seems to retain that "pissed off Marshall" vibe, only it sounds a bit thicker. The clean tone sounds great too. I could see the BE or the Naked being equally awesome at rock/hard rock tones with the Naked being able to dip down into that beefier chug realm. Doesn't seem like a straight up metal amp though...

Someone get on this and make a proper demo!! :gethim:
