Man my GAS is over, nothing but the classics for me.

The classics?

You mean a '57 Strat or a '58 Les Paul burst into an unmodded '68 12 series Super Lead, right?

Fenvel into a modded Marshall... pfffffffffttttttttttttt.....

;)

Steve

My main rig right now is a LP, Strat and a stock JCM800 with a stock MIJ SD1 and a few other FX pedals thrown in....

but that could easily change tomorrow

Never announce that your gas is over. It just makes it that much worse when the gas comes back as it always does, in like a week, and your gasing for something else. I was playing my Charvel through my Marshall tonight and thinking the same thing, but I didn't say it! Shhhhh   I have to say the Les Paul through the Marshall is a pretty mean sound as well. Hows about this:

Good to see you are kicking the Boogie habit Scott!  This 74 Hiwatt I picked up recently has taken over # 1 for me. I like my other amps too, but this Hiwatt is just awesome. After recapping it, it should be even better!

Now it's on to another kind of GAS...this summer is gonna be a blast.

Chase all the new amps you want, try all the new fiddles you can get your hands on, NOTHING beats a Charvel into a Marshall for me. Get the right guy to work on a SLP, mess with the Charvel some and man it is just rock the way it is always meant to be. Nothing beats that thoaty Marshall bark and roar with a Charvel with a dirty worn in neck. Brings you back to a time when your playing mattered, it was just you and your drive to bring the heat that one night when it really mattered.

Yeah I will be getting other fiddles and another amp or two but they will be Marshalls and Charvels with an Ibby for good measure.

Shit, tell me have Mr Warren D explain this as he can do it better than I could.

Just get to the 1:58 part

WOW, I clicked on this thread and that EXACT song was playing. I've only recently discovered Ratt, great stuff and am now listening to Invasion Of Your Privacy.

Charvel and Marshall huh, seems I'll have to give in to the Charvel GAS.

My Anderson Drop Top into the Fortin is doing it for me. Funny how i plugged into a Boogie Mark V today and i hated it   Damm, things have changed. The Marshall into Heritage H30's kicks ass.

But. For clean tones with a strat. I found a Boogie Lonestar for 800 bucks. For clean tones it's great. I'm still trying to get along with the dirt channel. And i played a Boogie Roadking combo today as well..............i fucking hated it.

Wow...things have changed! I'll tell you what, if it wasn't for you and Scott (Ralph, Psychodave, Daren Stroud and a few others) I would still be doing the Mark thing. I love Mark series amps but have really started to grow into a different type of player lately. I seem to be returning to my rock roots and just not listening to or playing metal anymore. The IIC+ will be shipping next week to its new owner. I can't say I'll miss it just yet. I haven't felt inspired by it at all which I know sounds crazy. Mike Fortin has been great to work with thus far. Can't wait for my Cali modded Marshall JCM800 to return home!!! Sounds like it is right up my alley.

As promised, tons of clips will be coming when the amp gets here. I will try and do a wide variety of clips to show of its versatility.

The thing is you will not miss the boogie cause the Fortin stuff, like the Camerons, have boogie qualities but with Marshall voicing which will stand up much better in the mix.

Best of both worlds.

Try throwing an MXR 10-band EQ in front of the Lonestar to get the dirt happening. I use the MXR to cut the low end, bump up the mids (500 and 1k) and then push the MXR gain up to desired taste. I was really surprised how much better the Lonestar sounds this way...better than the Xotic BB preamp to my ears.

Yep, you guessed it. :) Picked up a '71 Chevelle SS clone....needs a little bit of work and an engine swap :) Should have it done by spring. If it gets nice out I'll take some pics of it.

Awesome the guitar came out great! Can't wait to see some pics of it.

My Marshall gas is BAD right now and I need a fix soon. It's so bad I may throw in the towel on searching for 59 to mod and pop for a VM 100. If I had the cash I would be knocking on Fortin's door right now with a 59 in hand.

Yep, there are lots of BBC stuff around right now...good prices too...i have a .030 over 350 on a stand in my garage I'll put in first. It has a 305 in it now.

I like the new Mustang body style...good to see the retro type styling coming back. Those small blocks sure sound mean with flowmasters on them.

Does classic now mean the 80s? If a Charvel is "classic" what would you call a Strat/Tele/Les Paul?

It is 2010, thirty years later so I am comfortable with my assessment ;)

I re-tubed the IV since I smoked two tubes 1/2 year ago and the thing came up on R2............................sounded like a transister radio next to the Fortin   I still dig the liquid leads of the lead channel but the Fortin came get liquid but has more girth to the tone.

Hey Scott. Here's my local hero who i have posted about before. He used nothing but Marshall's, LP's, Strats, but he had a parts caster with a Floyd. I'm telling you, live, he sounded as good as anyone I've ever heard. His tone was incredible back in the day and his playing was flawless.

Did they have their amps crossed ? Seems he is standing in front of an Ampeg ?
