I was reading a guitar magazine yesterday and they had an article about Mark Morton from Lamb of God and his new album. I was listening to a few clips and thought the tones and riffs were great but also blew me away at how versatile his playing is and adjusting to different types of music. I mean the guest singers on here range from grunge to all out thrash and his playing fits each song. Pretty strong playing on every song. Curious what you guys think. Any other guitarist as heavy as him would have just stuck to their own vibe:

Yeah but with a name like napalmdeath, you are used to the brutals. The rest of us are metal riff virgins.

I

Seriously though, I just think it is good considering his background, etc. I guess I wouldn't have expected something like this from him and not balls out Lamb of God-type riffs over and over.

I'm a big LOG fan, just saw them a few weeks ago with Slayer.

Every post? Really? I feel I contribute quite a bit, and have an opinion from time to time - nobody has to like it, and everybody's entitled to one. Go ahead, search my posts. I'd say you're exaggerating quite a bit.

I didn't dislike the album, it just didn't "wow" me. I'll maybe give it another spin.

It's not supposed to be a LOG record. That's the point. I think I remember an interview with him about the song Descending - where he wanted to do something different and the rest of the band hated it - but he finally got them to agree to the song. I think he just wanted to expand beyond the typical LOG stuff. The intro to Imaginary Days is pretty cool, but definitely not a LOG type riff.

Yeah, in the guitar magazine interview I read he was saying the songs he was doing were heavy songs but knew they wouldn't fit with the LOG style.
