Marshall 1960 A/B cabs G12T-75 & V30 X-pattern suggestions?

Got some four V30's (16 ohm) on the way (thanks Mike!) to go with my four G12T-75's (16 ohm) so now I've been itching to get both of my Marshall 1960 A/B cabs in X pattern... I found two diagrams for Series-Parallel and Parallel-Series... the Series-Parallel showed that I needed to have two sets of +/- connected to the terminals (correct term?)...

I've also read that Series-Parallel is the way to go because sounds "rounded" and "fuller" according to this thread... any thoughts?

Will I have an issue using the stereo output and if no issues... which output will I connect too? Will it still be the same 4ohm/16ohm mono 8ohm stereo cab setup? Will I have to get a new output panel?

I also read that some folks have better luck with having the G12T-75's on the bottom and the V30's on top in one cab (how would I wire that?!?!?!)... if that's the case should I just keep the V30's on the top cab and the G12T-75's on the bottom cab? Arg!! So many choices!!!

In all honesty (I haven't tried the different types of wiring), I'd just replace two of the speakers (top left bottom right, for example) and try it out first

+1. That's what I did. Not discounting the effects of the different wiring, but the simple swap yielded great results.

I have mine in an "X" wired series/parallel.

Thanks for chiming in fellas... I'll definitely try to just "pop in" two speakers and see what I get... if I put them in X-Pattern, will that just make my cab a 27 watt mono cab and still be able to run it at either 4 or 16 ohm?

Are the Marshall 1960 A/B stereo cabs usually series/parallel or parallel/series?

Ayrton: You said the picture is of X series/parallel but the pic from Sound City states that this X parallel/series... now I'm confused!

I did mine in an x pattern and It fucking sounds awesome! I don't think the marshall cabs with the right speaker combo gets enough respect!

If I were you Id just run 2 cabs without mixing speakers. That way you can always plug to one or the other for the unique tone, and plug the 2 for the mixed sound.
Micing is better as well if you don't mix em...

Just pop 'em in where you want utilizing the same wiring and you will be just fine. The stereo/mono switch and jackplate will operate as normal. I think that is your best bet and it will sound killer.

I got back from practice last night and started off by setting up all four v30's in a cab and A/B'd them against the all G12T-75's and the v30's were much brighter and meatier than the G12T-75's... I could hear where the 75's had more low and high end and the v30's had all the mids to mid/highs... I stacked the cabs and could hear the separation of the two cabs... so my band mates suggested that I go ahead and put them in X-pattern... I'm a bit slow when it comes to power drills and such so my band mates helped me out and switched them out for me... as soon as I stacked up the cabs I immediately notices more mids... my Axe-fx Uberschall patch (which is a bit darker than I usually go) sounded really good via the X-pattern cab. One thing I really liked was when I put my ear up to the cab to try to hear each individual speaker, I really couldn't tell which speaker was which. They blended very nice and evenly... very cool. After we finished practicing I tried to dial in other amps sims and I could hear the "bees" that everyone talks about on just about every other high gain amp... but for some reason it sounds great with the Uberschall amp sim. I'm sure it will even out in time since Mike mentioned they weren't broken in at all... Either way I'm very excited, because there's much more presence in the overall sound of the stacked cabs now. The combination of G12T-75's with V30's is very nice... Thanks again fellas!

P.S. In the X-pattern I took your advice and just swapped the two top left - bottom right from each speaker without changing the wiring... I should be good right?

Yeah. I wouldn't get caught up in all the internet hype of different wiring styles, different speaker wire, jacks, Marshall cabs don't sound as good as brand x cab, etc. Swap out 2 speakers in each cab and rock.
