Here’s a beaten up Marshall 2203! It has been modified several times before and has now landed on my bench.
The owner wants me to put in a tube buffered effects loop and tweak the two channels to my liking. So it’s a much smaller mod than I usually do even if the sound improvements are big
The main PCB is still in place but someone before me has installed a clean channel and changed the front panel.
It doesn’t look too aesthetically appealing if you ask me
Here is the new loop. The main PCB is still there and I’ve modified the existing circuit of the preamp and power amp on the PCB.
This is how it sounds after my mod:
Recorded with an iPhone 4S
I’ve improved the dynamics a lot, you can go from crystal clear to screaming higain with the volume on the guitar.
The distortion channel has more gain and attack and is much more focused than before and the whole amp has a beefier bottom end. The clean channel is crispier and warmer than before.
