Im confused considering this is first new line of Marshalls since the JCM 2000 series. :?

I said 'marshall type'...not Marshall the actual maker...

so what's this about mark's name mentioned in R&D?

It was not.

I said something like I bet guys like him were mentioned due to many marshall players using his amps. It was my way of saying that marshall got their heads out of their asses and got someone to design an amp that people were looking for.

I did not mean it to come arcoss like that at all, sorry if it was misleading.

I was never in the market for a Cameron because there's too many ???????? that i would have. I'm just sticking with what my heros used, Boogie and Marshall and i don't see any reason, anymore, to go with someone else.

FWIW, JB is a great guy and has been very very nice to me and i love his clips, but hearing him play a WASP cover wasn't nearly enough for me to do backflips over a Cameron.
..all of JBs clips fuckin' rock....I liked his cameron clips..but enough for me to sell my amp and get one modded by mark? no..

that's my whole point...some just can't seem to understand that there's alotta amps out there because not everything's going to appeal to every single guitar player..that's why a) you have alot of guitar players with multiple amps or b) guys that buy and sell, buy and sell, buy and sell...

just seems like when there was cameron or the new JVM talk it was never 'roccaforte and other builders are fucked!' it's always 'splawn, etc, etc, etc.'...

I don't understand why they have to bring scott into the fold all the time...talk about the JVW...BUY the JVM...play it! I don't care...

I was in the room at NAMM when the JVM and VM was being demo'd. Heck, I came back for the demo another two times over the weekend. I am also a Splawn dealer and have a decent amount of vintage Marshall Super Leads and a JCM800. I also have a Mojave Peacemaker and Splawn Quickrod in my studio.

I won't say the sky is falling for anyone just yet. I didn't play the JVM, just heard it being played by two different players with very different sounding guitars. I haven't put my Splawn or any of my vintage Marshalls up for sale yet.

I will say this...... all these companies and modders existed because Marshall was not actually building the Marshall that people wanted. Thank goodness that Mojave, Germino, Cameron, Splawn, Roccaforte, Cornford, Soldano, Bray, Bogner etc etc existed because for the last 20 years Marshall has been out of the game and out of touch with what players wanted. I think finally Marshall decided they wanted the entire Marshall inspired amp industry back in their pockets.

It's too early to say if they can do it. I have to play the amps and put them in my studio to see if they're worthy. But the fact that I'm even considering putting a production line NEW Marshall in my studio with my boutique and vintage stuff is really saying something.

If I had a Marshall-esque based business right now, I wouldn't panic, but I would be very interested to see what these things sound and feel like.

Dude face it if Marshall trully is making an amp that alot of peope think sounds better than what Scott puts out it will affect him. Will it be the end of Splawn? I doubt it but it will no doubt have an imapct. Marshall just relased 3 great sounding heads. Its bound to have an affect.

any amp that people hear that they think sounds better has an impact on any other amp they were considering at the time...

that's the whole thing, isn't it? opinion?? some will be sure to love it, some will be sure to hate it..

I'm not saying it sounds better or worse...what I'm saying is that scott's amps seem to get singled out ALOT on both ends of the spectrum....that's all i'm trying to say...seriously...I really don't know how much further I can boil it down

I wonder how many people in this thread would have boners for the new marshall if mark cameron actually had his amp ready to go..

I have been a Marshall player from day one. I got my 1st Marshall, a JCM 800 2205, in '87 and I still have it. I have a bunch of older Marshalls to this day and I absolutely love them. I was just waiting for a new one to come out that covered it all. Seems like the JVM will do the trick and if not, I'll sell it.

I had lunch with the TX Marshall Rep. a couple weeks ago and told him once again that they were losing some market share to the small companies. I used to tell him that over the years that I was a Marshall dealer. I also used to tell Nick Bowcott the same thing every time I saw him. I am sure I wasn't the only one and it looks like they finally got it.

You make great comparison clips...I look forward to hearing a shootout with the new JVM...the Peacemaker so far has been my favorite 'old Marshall' type tone....judging from you clips. ;)

I wold agree but not when you make Marshall clones. A guy who buys and like Boogies wouldnt look at Splawn. A guy who likes Fenders wont look at Splawn. A guy who likes Vox wont look at Splawn. None of these are lost sales. Now a Marshall lover will look at Splawn because he makes Marshall clones. No if Marshall puts out three kick ass amps that meets what people want then it will affect Splawn.

I'm saying is that scott's amps seem to get singled out ALOT on both ends of the spectrum....

And Im saying show me an example of this before the whole JVM fiasco. Im seriously interested. The only thing Ive ever noticed was the Cameron versus Splawn thread but that was a different story all together...

This whole Marshall hoopla right now is not just about the JVM. The JVM is meant to go toe to toe against Mesa, ENGL, Soldano, Bogner and any other high option, versatile, clean to super high gain builder out there right now.

The Vintage Modern amp I fell in love with!!!!!! I love the Plexi tone but am always looking for just the right boost to put with any real Plexi, metal panel Super Lead, or my Mojave. This Vintage Modern amp is a killer sounding Plexi with a little more lows available and that right amount of boost is built right into it. I'm telling you guys, Marshall seems to have gone after every niche in the boutique Marshall inspired market.

I agree Curt, I liked EVERYTHING that I heard from Marshall that afternoon, The Vintage Modern, The KK 2203 and the JVM all sounded fantastic to me. The JVM was my favorite due to all aof the options and versatility but they really delivered IMO on everything that they released.

Awesome to hang with you Bro!!!
