Would have been nice to have a tone shift/contour button on the JVM imo

The JCM 800 sounded like crap.
It's got a weird character to it (at least in this video). There's this graininess to it and it sound "soft" in the lows. Totally missing that attractive Marshall bite...Almost like the worst aspects of a Recto has been added to its tonal DNA. Not what I was hoping for from a factory "modded" JCM800.

LOL!
" and on the JCM modified, I'm on clipping 2, with the pre-amp all the way up"
Yeah, sure, that's how I run all my Jose mods
5v clipping and gain on 10
they sound great dialed like that
OK

And everyone's shocked that the JVM sounds better

From the first chord he hit…awful, Those 800’s, even the og sounded like crap to me.

My JCM2000 DSL had a bit more of that classic Marshall vibe, but I strongly prefer the JVM so far I have to say. But to your point, I am playing at home at moderate volume levels. The master volume is very well tapered, and I can get really nice, upper-mid high-gain grind out of this thing at low volumes. OD1 orange and OD2 red are killer for hard rock and more traditional metal.
It’s a cool amp . It was live wotg real drums where I found the problem I had with it . I mean if I didn’t have jcm 800s i might not have even noticed the difference .But ya I enjoyed writing and practicing on it a lot

The jcm800 sounded pretty bad in that video. Not much of a comparison either, using totally different cabs for each.

Though sounds like the intent of the video wasn’t really a comparison so much as trying to dial in a stereo rig.

Make it more interesting, play the JCM800 thru this

Yeah let's be honest....... unless it's fully cranked and even then or has an OD goosing it they usually do......

Also I mean shit gets old and worn out with more and more miles and years on it over the years but YMMV :dunno:

I mean short of the JVM or DSL or yeah Vintage Modern.......

Even the JCM900 or Jubilee or whatever nvm a JCM800 won't really be as "high gain" or pack as much gain on their own plugging into them as many think they would......

I mean the Plexi type Marshalls and JCM800s of the world aren't bad but they just aren't all that amazing plugged right into them as many would like to think IMO gain wise and well alot of the good tone is lawyer/doctor or "cork sniffer" tone for lack of a better term in regards to higher gain if you think about it more than not.......

One would probably find as much DS and high gain tone out of a cranked Deluxe Reverb Reissue or Bassman relatively speaking :dunno:

So because some random youtuber is not able to dial in or record an amp properly, the JCM800 now sounds bad ??? LMAO

Wow. The JVM killed it. I wasn't too surprised though. Having a TSL makes me want to get one of these. How does the JVM compare to a TSL? High gain wise?
Had a tsl 100 and the 122 combo and a couple jvm410's but not at same time
but memory is the jvm high gain was more marshally the tsl high gain a bit mushy
I liked the tsl122 combo it was easy to pickup and carry but the jvm tones were better especially od1 orange

You may have a point, I do play my Gibson thru the 2203 LOL

The jvm sounds amazing to me at bed room level . But playing with drums it would not open up and roar like when my JCM 2000 does . I can’t believe they don’t update it and bring the true Marshall type thing that opens up . But ya I loved my jcm . They can record great
Yep one of the best master volumes around. All I can say is I never had issue playing live with the amp. Probably put in close to 300 gigs with it, always delivered. Many, many compliments as well. Probably the funniest was a guy in a band we opened for and he literally argued with me that I "had" to be running an OD pedal lol. I walked him through my rig at the time which was the JVM, my small rack that had my rack delay and racked pedals, switching system and my midi pedal board which had the GCX, wah and tuner. He still couldn't believe it, funny. It was just OD1 Orange with the gain a little less than noon. I had a volume boost in my rack delay that bumped the volume for leads the rest was me just working the volume knob on the guitar.

I'd love for them to update the amp as long as they don't neuter it like they did with the Satch model.
