Was that through a V30 Bogner cab or the Friedman cab right next to it?

Yeah....... I'd say that was close enough to 12301's tone straight it and if that Bogner cab has V30's, Wow!

I listened to that and the guy from guitar center was saying things that weren’t true like Edward recorded Van Halen 1 with two 4x12 Marshall cabs well Edward recorded Van Halen 1 with one slant Marshall cabinet anyway wasn’t empressed it was your tipical Marshall vintage plexi,I would take a Soldano SLO 100 over that amp all day long. Here’s is the only photo of Van Halen in the studio( sunset sound)recording Van Halen 1, you can plainly see the one miked Marshall slant 4x12 cab and Edward using his Ibanez Destroyer.

Got my 68/69 from the Hollywood GC. Sounds just like that. Perfect Plexi front/back panels, some oxidation but very little. Had a 1 wire mod but I put it back to stock. They took 2 in on trade, both serial# cut out so stolen at some point years ago. Use my PS2 with it most days, but running it au natural through my 68 Marshall cab, and 72 Orange cab sounds amazing.

i’m weirdly more enamored over the provenance of a famous amp than i am a guitar.
i’ve played a 12000 series SL and it’s cool in a nostalgic way. but given the prices these things command i dead honestly would rather buy a 5150 iconic for $800-900 and have more fun shredding high gain.

i played Eddie’s hockey puck kramer that was in the GC Hollywood display window back in the 90s and it felt like any old charvel wide flat neck of that era.

as a vh fan it’s cool to check that box but as a player i wouldn’t have paid $500 for that thing.

I was done with Marshall plexi’s ages ago,I’ve had vintage, reissues, stock, modded, overdrive pedal, boost pedal clean boost F$&k that the only Marshall plexi modded that I liked and still own and is for sale is my Rockstah Mod 5 modded Rockitt Retro

I am perpetually looking for the amp that does THIS kind of clean chime and dirty Plexi thing, and also a higher gain version of that.

Here’s the ISO Track from Van Halen 1 Running with the devil CMON…….

nothing personal man — i’d really like to avoid this discussion becoming another typical soul sucking VH $-Storm of “i know more than you about eddie’s equipment and tone”. I’m pretty certain that by now the globe knows 100x over what makes VH old tone tick.

it’s just about a fun discovery and i enjoyed seeing the player excited about playing a dimed plexi for the first time!
like the seller mentioned i hope it goes to someone who will use it loud and proud whether that’s for Led Zep, Iron Maiden, the Who or Tiny Tim tone and not Dr. Collector.

Mentoneman has nothing to do about “ you know more then me” it’s just experience and knowledgeable that’s all, All good Man …👍

Right now the amps that can cover all that ground and has a loop to boot are the Morris UK68 and RJS 76/100's. Go check out the clips, they are really that good.

Amp sounds good... but 17:28 mins of foreplay/drivel before the first sound.
STFU and play.
:2thumbsup:
Way too much talking and not enough playing IMHO but, the amp does sound eerily similar, even with the wrong cab and wrong speakers, basswood bodied guitar.

cool my man. again totally nothing against you or what you said. just being mindful of forum brothers that despise anything too long in the tooth re: VH tone debates🤣
