I think he is using it in the loop of the DSL judging from some of his other videos, he has the MXR 10 band and the Parametric in the loop on those.

At the end of the video he does place it in front of the amp to dial in Gary Holt tones.

A buddy of mine got the valvestate based pedal and loved it. Got the one that is supposed to be a Mark IV and he hated it. Everyone seems to love the valvestate one though.
