I suppose where you're located it would be nice to have a couple options. I can't say I miss eating fast food or the now high pricetag. There is a ridiculous amount of fast food restaurants here and they are always busy. There must be a dozen chicken joints in a town of 60k. Cains, Gil's, Golden Chick, Chick Fil-A, KFC, Popeyes, Zaxby's......it's nuts. I can spend $30 feeding three people In and Out burger or Whattaburger. For $50 I can get a brisket it, smoke it, and five people can eat for a week off that. We pretty much eat at home every night. Cheaper and tastes better but yeah getting a break from cooking is nice now and again.
Last time we went out to eat at a “local diner” it was about 80 bucks for 2 burgers and pancakes for the kids. It’s outta control.
Ok and 2 dirty chai lattes, but cmon now

Man as soon as you add the alcoholic drinks to the bill the price skyrockets. I usually figure about $100 for me and the lady to have a couple drinks and a nice sit down meal. That was about 15 years ago, lol. You're east coast so prices are higher. I could get premium world class take out brisket for 3 people plus several killer sides for about $100. Mondays my favorite BBQ has a blow out on pork ribs. When we do eat out it's often breakfast tacos. I can feed three for about $22 which isn't bad and they are packed with eggs and bacon. Great tacos everywhere here.

I got 3 bagel sandwiches Tuesday morning for $24 lol. I’m glad I don’t really drink and very rarely do at a restaurant or a bar (I’m always either driving or on call)

I just looked up our local bbq place, family platter with sides is 69.50 lol

$70 bucks for the family platter isnt' bad tbh if it feeds all of you and is decent food. For brisket, 1/3-1/4 pound per person that would be an average rate here with sides to feed the three of us. Maybe a few bucks more if I buy an extra side or dessert to go with it.

Unfortunately with the rise in popularity of BBQ there are now a lot of lousy BBQ joints.
