After being introduced to the forums 10+ years ago, Im kinda over them.

Kage,
I have wondered this too. But it just seems strange to me that so many of the long timers are getting tired of the forum all around the same time after so many years of forum use. The last 12-18 months I'd say the voluntary drop off by so many cool forum members is what bums me out. And I see some of them on other forums or Facebook so it's not like they have seen the light and all decided to go outside and play. And talking gear is still one of my favorite things to do. It seems like this is the place to do that.

I hear ya Curt and I can only speak for myself. Becoming a dad 6yrs ago changed things up for me quite a bit and the last 2 years have been a whirlwind , both businesswise and personally. Ive just had way too much on my plate to come around with the frequency that I used to. Add to that what I said earlier; I know what I like and little else interests me gearwise anymore. As much as things change, they stay the same and after awhile, all the posts that I see now look like posts that Ive already participated in ad infinitum over the years ( and for the most part, they are IMHO)

The initial buzz and appeal of the forums just isnt there for me anymore but thats more of a me thing and has nothing to do with this place specifically.

I still love you though.. :inlove:

Kage

I like how this forum started out, it was a bunch of guitar plAying buds wanting a place to hang out without the goofiness of the Harmony Central 'I has snax' crap.  ...and we used to post cool backing tracks a great players from all over the world would participate.

It's not the same at all now....and stuff changes.
I was checking in here daily, then every other day, then weekly, now really not at all.
It seems the original members that began this place are pretty well gone, and well, that's about it...people move on.

If I have a question or need some gear advise, the Gear Page seems to be more on topic for me now.
I'm just not a fan of high gain discussions all the time, this place is a little limited that way...involving things other than high gain IMO.
Let the 'new gang' take over.

Cheers to the old gang

I think the grand exit can be quite entertaining sometimes. This entire forum was created due to a mass grand exit from HC. And there may have been some drama at that time.

Adam,
You were one of the main ASSETS that this forum had even if you are color blind, have turd colored living room walls and are a Canadienne. You rip on guitar and you know tone.

You are on my list of Rig Talk's Most Valuable Missing In Action members. If you come back, I swear I won't make fun of Loverboy, or the Canadienne military anymore.

And does the internet need another almost exclusively high gain forum? The HC Amp forum has that covered and those guys also have a wicked sense of humor. There's even amp threads on there sometimes.

I still love coming here and seeing what is up. All things change over time. I don't have as much time as I used to to throw down over backing tracks although I love doing it when I have a chance. This is still my favorite forum and my favorite ex-HCAF gear hounds still come by at least once in awhile... Lots of new folks coming in, which is good as well...

Steve

Weird. I don't post much but this is definitely one of the better forums I've found. I even met Brad once last year when I bought a guitar from him and he seemed like a wicked cool dude... Maybe I've missed something in my trolling.

Dude...it's a FORUM. On the INTERWEBS. This shit really matters to you that much? What, are you 12?
actually 11 and 1/2 . thanks for asking. I just liked it better whe Thump and Bob had the reigns.

So then leave and quit being a little fuckstick? You have some control over this...you can GTFO if you don't like the place. That's what I would do, but I generally like thinking rationally as much as I can.
In all reallity Jordon, you are one of the biggest douchebags on here and I have been entertained by your douchebaggery for a while but, that being said.. Fuck you! See this is what we need is a nice old fashioned shit storm.

Although I don't agree with the OP attitude towards the forum, I do however agree with this quote. LOL from when I started posting here this douche bag had to one up me every time.

Oh the drama of guitar forums ;)

I don't understand why the OP has to commit forum suicide, if its boring around here just leave for a while and come back in the fall when things pickup ;)

It is summer, people are actually outside doing things for real instead of sitting in front of a computer, tablet or smartphone...

Also think facebook steals some eyeballs on the forums.

I'm seeing more old timers in this thread than most lately, but that's the way forums are.

I have to echo some comments above that I've changed even more than the forums, I've found what I like and pop in now and again to see people I've met and enjoyed talking with throughout the years. And to talk trash when fanboi's get a little too wild in their ways.

After awhile all the posts look the same, the new crowd can take the reigns of the merry gear-go-round ride.

Traditional forum formats have more (online) competition these days as well imo...

I talked to Headlessdeadguy today. He is sorry about what happened. He is going through some tough times right now and that was clear to me from the start of this thread. He is a good dude who is just dealing with some tough times right now. Please wish him well. He needs good vibes, prayers, mojo...

I know it is not my business to intervene here but I knew something was up when I read this and I did contact him to reach out.

Thanks!

Thanks for doing that Laura... prayers for the headless dude.

I knew something was going on too Laura. I could see he was getting sour on the forum little by little but it's not like him to do something like this at all. When it come to good people Mike's about as good as they get  Mojo sent.

 i vote for more chic pics lol

Right back at ya.

I seem to have no chat time on the internet these days.
In a new relationship, working a lot, not gigging on the weekends much anymore. Getting in shape, working out, biking a lot. Concentrating on writing songs more. Life is good. :)

I recently purchased a guitar that you may like.
This one is great! Picked it up for under $500. Great wood tone, plays like butta.

Well, this forum has certainly taken an interesting turn if we are going to start requesting pics of forum members wives in bikini's before child bearing!  I haven't been to The Gear Page in a while. Is this standard operating procedure there? :D

Under $500? Holy cow! That's a great price. A good one of those is really hard to beat.

Hey you. :gethim: Right now she's 8 months along and the size of a good year blimp.

Time for you all to relax...sit back and enjoy our national pastime....

I don't spend nearly as much time here as I once did, but that has more to do with being busy, and not playing, than anything else.

I do miss a lot of the old crowd; we've lost a lot of valuable contributors.
