yeah better without the extra eq.. i used the eq on myead of cutting old markIII as a lead boost instead of cutting.

Should have made a demo using the Triaxis not the Recto.

I like the idea but was not a fan of the tone in the clip. The v shape eq works so well on the Mark amps is because they are naturally mid heavy amps.

I'm with the majority as well, why scoop the mids on an modern amp with scooped mids?

Id love to test drive all three sometime..It seems like a great idea.I think a hot seller wouldve been to offer the 5 band on all recto style amps along with w/ the regular eq and make it bypassable.Although I'd really like to see an upgraded quad/studio pre and triaxis, and an "exact" reissue of the IIc+...for some reason it seems like theryre focusing on all this small stuff lately.

If anything I put an EQ in the loop of a recto to give the mids a boost and make it a pretty gnarly sounding amp. Or use it in front and cut the lows a little to clean up the front end. Or boost the mids going in the front end. I think the Triaxis, Lonestar or Royal Atlantic would be better served with that pedal. But honestly, I don't like the contour voicings on my Mark V so I actually would be down for a second graphic to use differently on a second channel. But I already have an MXR 10 band so there you go.

Some sweet tone here but I can't honestly hear much effect from the EQ but he sets it just to duck the mids a bit to sweeten it up I think.

What do you guys think?

Well, I know most posters on this don't like what that eq setting did to the tone.
But, before the pedal the tone was very hard rock like with a nice blend of frequencies.
When the pedal was turned on the tone sure enough took on a Metal tone that probably would work for some players and bands.
Yeah, it's fuzzy, but so are a lot of high gain tones.
I don't think it suck per se. It's just a flavor some would like.

What's interesting is that it sounds like the gain went up as well.
Did it "feel" that way to you when you were playing?
It sure sounds like it, especially with the eq emphasizing a very Metal like tone.

I prefer more of a growl for my high gain, with more mids.

Nice Mocking Bird btw. Sweet.

The Flux Five clip sounds great....that's the one I'm digging.

There is a lot of money to be made from the pedal market. There are able to reach those that have a mesa amp, than just want a pedal for their 2nd amp or to use with their mesa amp. Also, they can reach the non-mesa owners who want a mesa flavor, and finally they can reach the folks who can't afford a mesa, but want mesa tone.

Bogner seems to be on the same path. I just wish with Bogner, Mesa, and Rivera that they would bring out a tube line for pedals.

Surprised the EQ by itself is that much. I sure wouldn't imagine it's any better than using a Boss GE-7 or MXR 10 band. The MXR can be a little noisy depending on where it's placed though. Once you get over 150/175 for a pedal I'd have to think long and hard about whether it's worth it. Haven't heard a pedal yet into a dead clean sound do an overdrive tone better then the amp itself. And if you're layering onto an already dirty sound there are plenty of sub $100 pedals that will tear it up.

The EQ is the same as is used in all of our classic amp designs - meaning, it uses the full-size components -slider potentiometers, inductors, etc. Thanks!

Agree. But there are plenty of amps that have no overdrive. The Blackface circuit designs to name a few. There are few amps with better cleans so it's nice to have a killer pedal like the Bogners to produce a legit drive sound with them.

Best used in the loop?

It can be used in front or in the loop. When used in the loop it acts more like our built-in 5-band EQ. Thanks!

These things look great. $250 seems pretty steep but this is the exact pedal I've personally wanted made for about a decade and a half now, especially now that it's confirmed to feature *exactly* the same guts as the graphic EQ in the Mark amps.

I always boost my mids. the frown setting

Id get one for my Mk III since it is the same electronics used in mesa amps. BUT i did pay $90 for a newish GEQ 7 with sniper mod :gethim:

Think they are a little higher than they should be. I can see $179
