I thought I could throw my first A B between these 2 amazing amps 1984 Mesa Boogie Mark IIC+ SRGX 60 watts with 2 JJ power tubes 2003 Mesa Boogie Mark IV revb - Mesa Stock tubes Things to consider ... 1) The Mark IIC+ came with 2 6l6 JJs and a mix of chinese / mesa spax7 and JJ preamp tubes The Mark IV has the Mesa stock power + preamp tubes 2 ) I used 2 different setting for each amp. Mark 2C+ left side with the settings shown in the photo - the master is pushed. For the right side the master is pulled and the eq is not that extreme and scooped. For the Mark IV the left side - pentode, tweed power (not full) - mid gain and the eq was set up with the mids less scooped than in the 2C+ as the IV is more scooped sounding. For the right side - triode, full power harmonics and presence pulled, the eq is the same as shown in the photo. 3) Signal is - Esp eclipse - amp - interface - IR (ala edge sneap)

0:00 - 2:18 Mark IIC+ mix 2:21 - 4:30 Mark IIC+ guitars only 4:31 - 6:47 Mark IV mix 6:49 - 8:59 Mark IV guitars only

Sounds great, man! Good to see you still have the Mark IV. It’s definitely different enough from the C+ to justify keeping. I’m know I’m keeping mine.

Right on dude! The mark iv is one of the most versatile and beast amps ever!

I owned 2) IIC+'s and a IV at the same time. The IV sounded better/bigger to my ears. Now I have another MKIII Blue stripe (prob my 5th one lol) and it's the best MK I've ever owned...
My blue stripe was too harsh sounding - trebly but aggressive as fuck! I really love the IV and the 2C+ is more raw and open sounding

I prefer the Mark IV by a bit, a little bigger sounding and more clear. Both sound amazing though.
Imo the 2c sounds fuller like more body and aggressive but thr mark iv has all the right freqs when recording. I'll experiment with the 2c+ more as this is my 2nd day with it lol The mark iv is the best buy for anyone who might want a versatile yet aggressive and tight amp

Man they both sound badass! Can’t imagine having both of those in my house it would endless chugging.
I do see you have one of the new Celestion Invisaspeakers in the MKIV :D
Yes I am recording using the suhr reactive load. I have removed the speaker from thr iv as I use my 4x12 Marshall

Came into this assuming I would prefer the IV but I'm liking the 2C+ even more. And another flawless victory for the mighty Suhr RL!

The IIC+ sounds killer, but I honestly think the IV is abit better, has a more rich sound. Both are amazing amps.

Second A B and for this one I used a cheap boost and some other virtual cab called MegaBrit (two notes). This time I much prefer the mark IV as I really dig its scooped tone! The Mark IIC+ could have been dialed better but I just wanted to compare them using the exact same settings (eq)

Mark IV has more presence it sounds like to me... a bit more compressed... otherwise they are pretty similar.
