Here's my Rev F. Small logo, attached chord, leather covering, Mark 3 trannies.

Yep. You have to watch out for that on real late rev F/early rev G. I recently sold a late rev F here, but took pictures of EVERYTHING including the rev F stamp on the board, to prove what it is.

Below is a picture of an early rev G I had a few years ago, next to a rev F. Notice the parallel loop and attached Chord, oh and the headshell had a small logo. ;) ;)

You really need to play the actual amp..... Every one of them sounds a bit different. I never heard two sound the same. They are not consistent at all.
 
Rectifiers are usually pretty spot on, I mean different tubes will change the tone slightly but other then that they all have that rectifier tone. If with the revisions they still sound damn close, most just effect the tightness or brightness level but most people dial them in to sound the same no matter what revision, in my opinion the Rev C you would never need that much top end.
 
I have played on at least fifty that is not my experience at all. I feel the same about all amps. Some more than others.
Of the ones I have played on in the last about twenty five years I felt about five of them were to my taste. The rest were too harsh or muddy. Not really bad... Just not for me.
