I did a search and didn't see much mentioned about these amps. The Mesa Express plus 50:5 interests me. I like that it can go down to a single ended 5Watt mode. I listened to a few clips and liked the clean, crunch, and blues modes, the burn mode didn't impress me. Its still hard to tell that much from clips. I do like some of the features they added with the plus series, like the solo boost.

So has anyone hear tried or better yet own a Mesa Express series amp?

Played one the other day and they are really nice. I liked running the clean channel in the crunch mode with the GEQ in preset, sounded huge and plenty of gain...then run ch2 in blues mode as a "clean" channel, big and fat...was very surprised....Seem a little high price wise seeing how I could buy a used .50 caliber for a lot less and get most of those sounds EXCEPT for the power switching...

i bought and returned an older mesa 5:50 (6L6), didn't like it at all but i'm a EL34 kinda guy. try before you buy, the new ones have GEQ IIRC.

The GEQ on the plus series is a big draw as I am a Mesa Mark IV owner and love that feature. I don't get to the music stores very often, which is why I am asking others experiences. Strangely my track record for amps has been better with amps that I don't try before buying as strange as that is.

I'd be interested to know how the Express amps sound in comparison to a Mark?

If you can and if you haven't already, checkout the Royal Atlantic. I got one for $1050 shipped. I only played it for a few minutes but I knocked me socks off. I played the Mesa Express plus and thought it was...ok. The Royal and Electra Dyne are where it's at for me.

Not nearly as much gain on the Express, even the one with the EQ.

How is the power soak feature on the Royal atlantic? The ability to switch to 5Watts on the Express series is what first attracted me.

I bought a 25:5 plus. Didn't love it. The 12" speaker cab was better than the old 10" ones, but it sounded small. The multiwatt settings and feature set is huge, but I prefer the Mini Rectifier at $350 less and I'll buy a cab for it.
