I need to get a new gigging amp thats multi channel and has built in reverb. I play a mix of southern rock and hard rock. Is one easier to record then the other? Hows the reliability? Ive have alot of experience with mesa i have owned at one point or another a Dual Recto 3 channel, Lone Star. Id be feeding these cabs into mesa 4x12 and 2x12. Anybody have any other suggestions or pros/cons of each amp. I mainly play PRS guitars and Gibby R8.

the Mark V is pretty hard to repair. Only for extremely qualified techs (or just send it to Mesa). The Bogner should be easier. However, both are solid built amps.

The Mark V weighs a ton too. I don't know if you really need all of its features for live use.

I would rather have the goldfinger anyday myself. And being that you are playing southern rock and hardrock and not heavy metal really I think it would be a better amp for you. ALso I would say that from my experiance with both companies that Bogner stuff is more reliable over time and also will hold value better on the resale market then mesa stuff.

Having actually played both I'd say the Goldfinger would fit Southern rock better but you'd probably have to try to boost the gain channel to get a more modern rock sound and get enough gain out for it.

I really need to find a goldfinger to demo. I also do session and fill in work to. Im not to worried about boosting the gain channel i use an xotic bb pre and ep booster for my drive needs. As far as cleans how is the goldfinger? Im not looking for twin like cleans but i want a decent amount of snap and articulation.

I'd go with a Roadster. Does everything with great reverb and marries nicely with PRS / Mesa cabs (I have all of the above). The Mark V would also do the trick. Depends whether you want a broad wall of sound or a sonic scalpel. Both are equally impressive but very different IMO.

The Goldfinger cleans are nice...more in line with the Shiva.
