just wondering peoples thoughts on which straight 4-12 cab they prefer the mesa rectifier or the bogner ubershall,i currently own an older mesa metal grill slant that im not to impressed with

Bogner cabs are some of the best sounding and well built cab around IMO.

Dude, if your buying a mesa, get a Mills acoustic.

The bogners are killer cabs but the Mills are a better match for the mesa.

I think their both going to be the same wood wise the only difference is build technique. The Boogie Cabs weigh a ton and if I'm not mistaken are made by Boogie. The Bogner cabs are made by a company that also makes cabs for Soldano, Fryette and Suhr. The Boogie cab is much stiffer than the Bogner cab so you will have more resonance with the Bogner. For a standard tunning this type of cab IMO is better to get a warmer tone from. If your drop tunning you can't beat the Boogie cab, and because it's stiffer cab the resonation will be more controlled at lower Freqs. I always thought a Boogie cab sounded cold and sterile untill I played a drop tuned guitar through it much nicer than a typical guitar cab, Marshall and the like. They are both great cabs... you just need to look at your playing style and tunning that you use the most and go from their my 02.

The Boogie factery tour is really cool

if your looking to save some cash a used mesa cab is the way to go ..... i think ther one of the best vlalues when it comes down to the price they sell for used

but honestly after owning a bogner cab id tell you to get the bogner .... it just has this sorta natural woody tone to it thats just awesome ..... the mesa just doesnt really compare to the bogner tone wise

thanks,im running an engl amp,and the boogie cab(metal grill) just doesnt have that thump or warmth,

whats the advantage,or disadvantage of front loaded or rear loadeded cabs

Mesa cabs can take a beating like no other, however i like my Bogner too.
But you can get a Mesa for alot cheaper used.

+1

I'd like to know too.

I've had the chance to play many cabs and I would go for the bogner cabs.

The Mesa's are no slouch, and their 2x12's are just awesome imo, but I think Mills is the way to go these days. Can't wait to order one!

Sadly I have no experience with Bogner cabs. I really have to fix that lol.

isnt a bogner just standard specs like a marshall.... 29x29x14 .....I wonder if the stoneage cabs are as good as bogner , never played either.

I've owned a ton of Mesa cabs (and love them), own a Mills cab and have A/B'd them all side by side with Ubercabs and my thoughts on the matter are this. Get the Mills, if you can't do that, get the Bogner and if you can't do that, get the Mesa. I doubt you'll be unhappy with any of them though. All are very nice. I hear a lot of complaints about the size of the Mills, but it isn't any heavier/bigger than my Mesa Road King cab. Granted, both the Road King and Mills are huge when compared to the Bogner, so if lugging a 110lb+ cab around is an issue, stay away from the Mills or an Oversized Mesa and go with the Bogner.

Depends on what you're after in a cab really. Mills are all the rage right now, keep in mind the afterburner is oversized compared to most. I've had Bogner, Mesa, VHT(Fryette) and Splawn cabs over the past 6-7 years and it all just depends on what you want to hear. I like the Bogner Uberkabs, haven't had the opportunity to try the Mills yet. I still miss the Splawn & Mesa once in awhile for certain things as they're all fine cabs. If I was playing a VHT head, I would no doubt still have a cab.

So what don't you like about your current mesa halfback metal grill cab? What speakers do you have in it?

What speaker combanation are you running in the Mills? and would it be fair to say that if you ran the same combanation in a Mesa cab would you like it the same?. After all the Mills and the Mesa boxes are identical wood wise so other than the slight internal volume advantage that Mills has which would equate to a lower Q freq giving the Mills that slight advantage in the lower end responce. Not trying to split hairs or saying the Boogie is better just trying to get to what actually defines one cab from another when the meterials used are the same.

I would say that middle brace has got to be a big factor?

That's the afterburner!

Here is a picture of when I had my Mills Afterburner, a Mesa Recto and a Mills classic - all side-by-side. All cabs had 4 v30s. I liked my Mills the best but the Recto ownere liked his cab better. It's personal preference. I will say that my Mills cab will not fart out (unlike Mesa cabs I've played).

In which cab... or are you referring to cab build in general?
