I have had every flavor recto know to mankind except this one.

I have tried them when they first hit the streets at GC and had mixed thoughts about them.

Was thinking of picking one up (and selling it a couple days later  ) and wanted to see how much love there is out there for these newer versions in addition to all the youtube videos I have watched.

Thanks.

Hey Giles,

The differences are subtle but noticeable. You might not like it but it's worth trying imo.

EDIT: Replaced with a better video of the Triple Mult-watt I made some months back....

I think they're great. I prefer my Rev G 2-channel Triple to any of the 3-channels I've played (both the Multiwatt and not), but it's not like the Multiwatt sounds bad to me. Plus they have a few extra, very usable features.

dont waste your time giles.
we have already disccussed this before and i think you didnt like it.
i owned one for over a year and we talked about it in another thread, then you checked it out and didnt hear much difference and said you was happy with what you had.

I actually forgot all about Gile's "Forlorn" thread where he didn't like the multi-watt's.

If he didn't like them the first time around he probably won't now.

I had a Triple Multi and I thought it sounded great and I was never a big Recto guy. I returned it because it just didn't sound great at low volumes. When turned up a bit with a BB Preamp it ROARED. For modern heavy there's not much better IMHO.

I thought the FORLORN was kinda colder sounding than the original 3 channel...

Here is a video comparison with "Crappers"

Your probably right... :(

All Hail Les Salami !

Nope. Got a Dual Rectifier a couple years ago and it sounds like pissed off bees in a tin can. Now, my 2 channel Dual Rectifier sounds awesome. I have no idea why maybe I got a magic one but it's night and day compared to the new ones.

The only problem is the 2 channel Rectifiers fx loops are useless and the clean channel isn't very good. I am thinking about getting a Roadster, I think that's the closest to get two channel sound while getting a good fx loop and good clean channel.

Picked up a multi Dual a few weeks ago and just love it.
I've had 4 or 5 rectos over the years and this one is by far my favorite.

Thoughts on the Multiwatt Dual Rec vs Multiwatt Triple Rec?

I have a 98 two channel triple that I have had for a while now, was thinking of a dual rec multi-twatt cause you can retube cheaper than a triple.

I tend to lean toward Triple Rec's because the low end holds together better. The preamp really benefits from the added headroom, not necessarily what 50 watts actually adds to the overall volume. That being said, I don't own one, but I've played Shiny_Surface's Multi-watt - it had some good tones in there for sure. It sounded like an improvement over my old 3 channel Triple. Never played a 2 channel Recto.

the Triple Rec Multi-Watt is a different amp than the Dual - not that fizzy can of bees sound. Eric (Erock) will agree - the key to the Trec is boosting it, not for more gain but to tighten the amp up. I run mine with a Mesa Flux set to clean boost and it's ridiculous. It got obnoxious low end and that low mid grind is unrivaled IMHO. My DMoll and Triple were super close in term of low end thump. Channel 2 Modern is home base for metal heads. Keep gain below noon and presence around 10:00, mids just shy of noon and damn it's hard to beat. Of course the right cab makes a world of difference. I usually play the Trec into my V30 loaded Bogner cab, but it likes the Uberkab too

Crap... cant decide on a triple or dual multi-watt. I had a 3 channel triple for a while an relay liked it a lot.

But was thinking of a dual for tubes sakes...

DUAL OR TRIPLE MULTIWATT???

I was going dual, but after hearing Erock's clip of the triple and reading some posts I think the triple sounds warmer...

that was my clip   - but Erock has a Triple and he and I go back and forth on what a beast of an amp it is - underrated for sure, especially if dialed in with favorable eq settings and right cab.

This is nice comparison between multiwatt dual and triples... I like the warmth of the triple better, especially at the end... Triple id the all black face amp...

This is the video I was talking about, I think it Erock???

I'm partial to Triple's, any iteration. They sound meaner, the preamp benefits from the cleaner power section and they sound a little tighter/more defined even at lower volume levels (imo of course).

Eric's recordings are always impressive - has great tones.
Course he doesn't have the Dual anymore - has a Triple Multi-Watt
