Man, I wish I found a dual I liked as much as this triple, particularly for tubes sakes Giles. I have bunches of quads, but matching 6 sucks. I'm not sure if it's just inconsistency in general, but this triple is my favorite out of the 3 multis I've owned. The others were duals however.

Erock I didn't realize you went through 3 multi's. For some reason I thought you went straight to the Triple.

Hehe, yeah Tom, I tried 2 of the dual multi, and actually bought this triple to flip as I got a smoking deal. After playing it though, it just sounded like exactly what I was looking for from the duals, lol. I guess I should have know though, the triples have been my favorites in all the revisions. Did you order that head shell new? It looks badass man. Clip sounds killer too brother

Thanks Erock! I had the same findings, any revision Recto I've had I preferred the Triple's.

My stealth conversion went in 2 phases. 1st phase I found a set of black OEM knobs on the 'bay. Then I was planning on just buying the black treadplate front (which Mesa will sell you that piece only if you want) and pulling off the chrome one. But I heard conflicting stories about how the double sided tape can be stubborn to remove in some instances so I just said screw it and got a new shell.

I also figured if I ever moved the amp I could put it back in the chrome shell and keep the black one for future use.

I know I can make it work for me, I have the means at my disposal and have tamed many a rectifier.

I only tried the multiwatt at GC on what were most likely brand new Mesa cabs that were not quite broken in and no boost...

Just got dome rocking my Suhr and it was very awesome... cant wait until Friday.

smart man. I need to do that to mine, it just looks too damn cool like that. It's worth it if you are going to keep it. Thanks for the tips, good to know about just the plate option. The idea of having the extra shell though, even to sell, would be cool. Now I'm gassin for a damn headshell, this forum sucks.

Hey, I'm really glad I got the triple because cosmetics don't mean squat as much as the tone to me anyway + I love the classic recto look...

If all goes well I'm going to sell my 1998 triple rec, it is like beyond minty fresh - I have had it for almost 4 years and it does not get played nearly as much as my JVM's

On one hand, they added some cool features like the selectable wattage (obviously) and the much needed fx loop improvement, but it sounds very VERY similar to the original 3 channel model.
I jammed them pretty loud for a bit when I was still near a GC. They had the fancy isolated amp room so I got to crank it up. I still owned my modded dual and it just reminded me why I modded it in the first place.

Cool amp but if you don't absolutely love the standard 3 channel, you won't love the multi-watt.

I got one a while back direct from mesa in 2010 and it was $375.00 for silver face, I'm thinking for black face there is an extra upcharge...

I think there was a $35.00 shippig charge and the whole thing was like 410.00 for me. NOT CHEAP !

I had asked Mesa about a headshell with black diamond plate and they told me $368.00 (not sure but probably didn't include shipping)

but then you still gotta get the black knobs to make it look mean
those are $4.80 ea (20x4.80 = $96.00)

I only ordered the new head shell from mesa because my triple had a little scuff on the corner and I wanted it be pristine from my recoding studio I owned...

In the end it was not worth it...
