Mesa's parody on why they aren't at NAMM.

By the video, it appears that they think it is a waste of their time and money. From the videos I've seen of NAMM, I'd tend to agree. Seems a bit chaotic.
 
I get it. Mesa is realizing that MOST people buying their amps aren't attending the NAMM show. So instead of spending money and time attending, they are choosing to stay put. I get that decision -- it's not like they don't already have their names out there in the lexicon of guitarists everywhere. I think they are trying to just provide their wide customer base with BETTER VIDEOS than what they've been putting out in the past, while not relying on posting noisy NAMM demos online for fans to see. Seems to make sense. I hate watching the NAMM videos because of the chaos. I much prefer controlled environment demos so I can better assess an amps potential.
 
Tien is an excellent host in the Mini-Rec video. I hope they choose to follow that format in their future vids.

Isn't the show used to showcase new products to be released? Maybe they just don't have anything new coming out.

The Mini Recto is new, but as you can see in the parody video, they state, "click here to see the real demo of the new Mini-Rectifier." I take it from the fact that they are poking fun at the lesser aspects of NAMM, and still promoting a video for their new product, that Mesa is essentially stating that they don't need NAMM. I may sound like a Mesa apologist, but do most guitarists who buy gear actually make their way to Anaheim every year just for NAMM? If the answer is no, then Mesa is right on. NAMM is probably great for small name boutiques in terms of networking, but for Mesa? I don't know if they aren't wrong for not attending.

Their newer videos definitely seem to be in another league in comparison to their older offerings.

When I say "new" I mean products that haven't been released yet. The mini rec has been out for months.

Is that what NAMM primarily is for? Yeah, I guess if that's the reason vendors attend NAMM, then there really wouldn't be any reason for them to go. Perhaps, that is why they released the Mini-Recto before the NAMM show, because they knew they weren't going to be in attendance? I recall that the Royal, ED, TA-30, and Mark V were all amps released at NAMM. Good point.
 
Too bad they didn't go this year. Would have gotten tickets. I understand the logic in the decision though.
 
They can have an enclosed booth for product demos, a lot of the amp manufacturers I saw today had them...
 
I have no idea why Mesa is not attending NAMM this year....nor does it bother me.

I will state that I continue to love my Mini Recto after 5 weeks of ownership! :rock:
The Mini Recto "Hype" isn't "Hype" at all IMO.....the amp speaks for itself.

The narrative descriptions and sound samples of the Mini Rectifier provided in this thread are genuine and easily achievable based on my experiences playing thru this great amp!! :rock:

The guys who attend NAMM aren't the guys building the amps.
 
Mattias "IA" Eklundh is the guitarist for the intro music of the first clip. Great player.
 
Mesa's too busy trying to capture "that British tone". They should just cut the crap and get back to reissuing the good stuff and what they did best.

Ok, two things :
1. you sure as s#*t should be - I live in a country that doesn't have a Mesa Dealer right now, and the ones I can find in South Asia generally don't carry more than a couple pieces of stock, have no spare tubes and can't offer service. Your dealers will be the differentiating factor when someone is choosing between a genuine Boogie and a Chinese (or Malaysian) clone. Right now, this is a huge weakness in the fastest growing region in the world. Fail.
2. your dealers are at NAMM trolling for competitive products to sell that offer better margins from vendors that are easier to deal with.

This is the best forum for Randall to hear what his distribution channels are thinking, what direction the markets are taking, what features they need, what margins need to be hit in order to compete. Whilst Mesa's absence seems justified, it reeks of leadership that has contempt for their competitors. When you're at the top, the only way is down.
 
Don't understand this at all. The real reason is not out in the open I think. They don't explain it. Why a big amp builder wouldn't attend an event that is followed not only in the U.S, but all around the world via YouTube and forums like this is beyond me. Sounds more like they are having problems.
 
I thought NAMM was for guitar players and friends to get together to share drinks and to post threads on the Internet about gear they're not going to buy in the first place?
