Mesa Mark IV can do the job.

That would be a good solution - a pricey solution. I'd have to get rid of my Hot Rod and probably all my dirt pedals. They are still pricey on the used market here in Canada.

Thx

Hey man

I live in Southern Ontario and work at a Long & McQuade. We had and might still have a Peavey Triple X for 350$ and we have some other heads that are inexpensive. I'll check tomorrow. THIS IS JUST A PSA, I don't get commission or make any money for telling you this, just tryin to help out.

We can arrange to ship it to you which won't cost much, and it's got a 3 month warranty. I'll see if it's still there.

The new Line 6 DT50 was brought into the store yesterday and it's bloody amazing for what it is! Just a thought there.

Cheers!

Fender hot rod deluxe won't do heavy sounds well, even with a pedal imo. So you definetally need something else. I would even think about dropping the hot rod and using the cash to invest in a better amp. Love the clean on the hot rod, but it just does'nt do drive well imo.

Dude! Very nice man! Where in Ontario are you? I always go to L&M in Ottawa, friendly people and great service, I don't mind driving close to 3 hours to go there instead of those other dealers here in Montreal.

Let me know what you got, I would be very interested!

Thx man!

Yeah, I might ditch the Hot Rod... I just found a Mark IV (combo) on the used market... Pricey but... I'll see what my friend from Long & McQuade has for me and then decide.

Thx!

I'm just heading in to work. I'll let you know when I get there.

Cheers!

marshall 8100 or vs100 super cheap and great metal tones and classic rock tones check them out i love them been playing them for years. can get the ehad for 150-200 bucks tube preamp and sparkling clean tonmes too

Well,

The dude made me an offer I couldn't refuse... So I came home with a Mark IV. It's a 2003, 2 sets of tubes, it's very very clean. It's my first Mark but I used to gig with the Triaxis/2:90 combo a couple of years ago so I'm no stranger to that "Mark" thing.

It's not the ULTIMATE amp but damn that's close. What an awesome amp. I spent more than I expected but it's worth it, it was a great opportunity and I took it.

Should I post pics? I think everyone knows what a Mark IV looks like...

Thx for all the replies!

You could look into tube distortion pedals...the damage control solid metal is awesome, as are the blackstar pedals. That would be nice and cheap. Or, sell what you have and get a 5150 3...itll cover all ground for both of your bands, I think.

Actually, the peavey 6505+112 combo might be your best option. You can find them used for about 400 bucks.

Cheapest would be the tube pedal route.

Have you been to Italmelodie in Montreal? I fuckin love that place! I really haven't had the best experiences with the L&M in Ottawa. I'll order something and they say they'll call or e-mail, they never do. One of their guys told me not to bother trying out a Mesa Stiletto cause they suck, it took a lot of convincing to be able to try it. They wouldn't let me hook up the Roadster combo(they didn't have a head) to another cabinet because this would 'blow the output transformers'. meh

Well I'm not too fond of Italmelodie, unless you are Pat Metheny they don't give a hoot about you. About 8 yrs ago, I wanted a PRS Swamp Ash Special (tobacco tri-burst) and they were the only one that had it in store, so I gave the clerk $200 to remove the guitar from the rack because I was going to be back later in the week to pay the rest of it. They did remove the guitar from the rack, but when I came back to pay the balance, they were treating me like I was buying a freakin' pack of strings. So I tell the dude "hey man, it's not like I'm buying a $3000 guiatr every damn week, do you realize that I'm dropping a part of my fucking annual income in your business facility?" I mean I don't want to be treated like royalty but dammit, make it a good experience for me ya know!

And I've never had any problems with L&M in Ottawa. Kindly service, most of the clerks there seem to know their shit and I've never had any problem trying guitars or amps, they never bothered me in any way. It was the opposite, they encouraged me to try all the stuff that I wanted.

Check out the fender ROC-PRO 1000 head. Not bad for a solidstate amp. does metal. Does uber metal with a boost. Very cheap. can be found on ebay around 200-300 dollars

Well, like I mentioned earlier in a previous reply, I found a Mesa Boogie Mark IV, so no need to shop anymore. I did spend more than expected but the deal was good, so I did it. It's the 1x12 combo with a spare tubes, got it for $1200 and here in Montreal I could not find a better deal so...

Well, I saw that.

Congrats on a great amp
