I love that guitar tone! Any ideas what he is using? The guitar playing is killer!
 
I find it funny that those who usually claim death metal has no talent usually boast about how great of a player Warren DeMartini is.

My metal tastes these days are a bit tamer than the usual tech and death metal, more into bands like Machinehead, Mastodon , and Soilwork etc. ( but I do like to listen to this stuff and appreciate the high level of talent ...)
 


What ever happened to good metal? Not wimpy and about getting laid 24/7 like Van Halen, but not distasteful with retarded cookie monster screamo "singing."
 
Been hanging out here since the day this forum was created and did not know there were as many complete fucking idiots here. I knew there were a few, but this is ridiculous.

I listen to all those bands as well much more than I do tech/death. The reason I posted this particular band is because they have managed to incorporate some killer groove into the songwriting while still having the tech edge. :thumbsup:

Me too The funny thing is, all the detractors of this style of music who claim it is not good couldn't play it in a million years. But the guys in this band and bands like it can play all that 80s shit standing on their heads. :yes:

Dream Evil is probably one of the most hilariously retarded metal bands out there. Great players but the lyrics are the gayest shit I have ever heard! Nice try, though! :lol: :LOL: :no: :aww:

I also agree with your vocals comment, Laura. They changed vocalists and it is much less death metal now. I like it and I think it fits the music well.
 
It is interesting... I used to despise this type of metal. I hated anything with any sort of yelling/screaming/whatever you want to call it. But the older I get, the more I like it.

I feel like one of those porn addicts who started out with Playboy, but now can't get off on any porn without two midgets, a llama, and a wiffleball bat.

...maybe that analogy was a little too far. \:D/

About 1995 a friend of mine was telling me all about Death metal...I was like whatever pal....
I was more interested in the Thrash...Metallica/Megadeth/Slayer....etc.
then once I started listening to it.....Just grew on me. :lol: :LOL:
Some really really great technical playing that gets overlooked. :thumbsup:
But in all fairness....there is alot of music that is just plain SHIT as well. :lol: :LOL:

Pretty much the same path for me. I've been firmly rooted in melodic metalcore for a few years, but this sort of metal is getting more appealing to me. There are some that still sound awful to me, but this track isn't bad at all.
 
My all time fave Death band is Malevolent Creation. Man so brutal and ass kicking!
I still tell people to check them out and they really dig it.
Like their older stuff alot. Joe Black album rules in my book. :rock:
 
Great stuff :rock: :rock: :rock: I am also older (43) and have grown up and EVH, Lynch, Rhoads, etc and love technical death/thrash metal. Just because you are older does not mean you still cannot rock to the newer metal :rock:
 
You guys have the right attitude! Of course there is some terrible death metal, no doubt about it. Just like there are tons of examples of terrible music in every other style.

A big one for me growing up was King Diamond. Loooooved the tunes but could not stand the singing. Now I love King's voice and it wouldn't be the same without it.
 
Really not diggin' the vocals, but I've had a growing hatred for most metal vocals outside of BDM the past couple years. :confused:
