Love Psycroptic! Gotta get this album asap. Huge Abysmal Dawn and Obscura fan too. Necrophagist needs to get the fire under their ass and get the new album rolling out.

Now I grew up on all the hair metal stuff and seeing the Hot for Teacher vid was a turning point on my way to being a guitar player. I just dont swing off Ed's nuts like some do. He's a badass no doubt, I just started there and went way heavier along the way.

Yeah, I would be so into a lot of this stuff for the music, but I really don't like getting yelled at.

You're being yelled to, not at.

How would I know? :D

45 seconds in, it all makes sense now...

Again, love some of the riffs and tones. But I grew up singing Journey and Queensryche. I appreciate vocals and harmonies. Not hatin' , just not my bag. But at least I listen and take some good away, no? :)

I don't know what's worse. The fact that he has a horde tattoo on his forearm, or that I knew what it was to begin with.
Dude gets worked up about some Warcraft.

I'm not so much into the Necrophagist technical side of death metal as much as this...

I dig Necrophagist and all those sort of bands, but it doesn't move me the way slam/BDM does, although there's plenty of bands on that side of the fence with technical riffs too. It's done with a different feel, vocals more inhuman, lyrics more vulgar, guitars much thicker... doesn't have that sheen to it that tech-death does.

Just sharin' some more tracks... we don't have enough talk about death metal on RT!

Oh, man. There re like 3 of us on this forum that get this kind of music. Man, that hurts. :aww:

DLR left VH when I was in elementary school. Even though I am 38, I have moved waaaay on musically since those days. Not trying to relive the 80s in any way like sooooo many here.

Make that 4. :D

What ever happened to good metal? Not wimpy and about getting laid 24/7 like Van Halen, but not distasteful with retarded cookie monster screamo "singing."

Dream Evil is probably one of the most hilariously retarded metal bands out there. Great players but the lyrics are the gayest shit I have ever heard! Nice try, though!   :aww:

At least they don't have this guy as their lead singer.....

Maybe, but DE sounds like they have this guy:

I think he dances to the pipes of Pan.

  You're alright Killertone, you're all right....

How about these guys? ;)

It is interesting... I used to despise this type of metal. I hated anything with any sort of yelling/screaming/whatever you want to call it. But the older I get, the more I like it.

I feel like one of those porn addicts who started out with Playboy, but now can't get off on any porn without two midgets, a llama, and a wiffleball bat.

...maybe that analogy was a little too far. \:D/

I love PF. Especially the Black Sun album. That shit kills!

I think Black Sun had their best guitar duo ever.

that psycroptic track is pretty sweet! looks like this year is gonna see a lot of killer releases

someone posted some decrepit birth on the first page, they are one of the best bands going right now IMO. I've caught their show about a half dozen times in the last few years and they bring it every time.

Sotelo writes some really incredible leads, and despite the gutteral vocals their lyrical content is all space/time oriented for you older fellas that can't seem to get over the intense delivery :)

enjoy:

Don't worry, there are more  I was never into the 80's glam rock/hair metal and VH. That was for posers. Anything commercial was considered wrong when I was in high school, haha. I know, it was narrow minded back then. Nevertheless, I still listen to some 80's (or 90s) music on a regular basis. I just can't help it, there is so much good stuff from King Diamond/Mercyful Fate, Slayer, bay area thrash, Death, Pestilence, the Swedish death metal scene, you name it. But no use reliving the past like a few here. There is still good stuff coming out today. Although I feel that I have to look for it more as the music industry has changed.

As for the clip, I love the song and the guitar work but not digging the vocals. I'm not into the hardcore type vocals. Gimme an old school grunt ala John Tardy anyday...

Australian Death Metal, huh?

My last phone died in a Psycroptic mosh pit. I found all the pieces after Nile played, and brought it back to life with duct tape, but it was never the same.

Now I have a new space phone and I can Rig-Talk on the go! Thanks, Psycroptic!!

Oh, and a fun fact for all the "Cookie Monster" haters out there:

More people have blown their voice out singing like Freddie Mercury than doing the Cookie Monster impression. Singing and screaming are literally the same thing. The only difference is that you can practice singing in the bedroom of your apartment without having the cops called. When you get to the gig, however, you realize that singing in your room to Van Halen doesn't help you sing on the top of your lungs. Pipe dream ruined.

The only difference between singing and screaming is which set of vocal chords you use. Hitting pitch with a scream, however, is one of the most difficult things a vocalist can do. Plus, just about every great singer digs into the grit of using both sets of chords for a little extra oomph. Metallica, Slayer, Testament, and all the great original metal bands had singers that used both sets of vocal chords.

It's one thing to say you don't like it, but never say we're not talented or aren't musicians. Screamers are every bit as talented as any other singer out there.

In the name of diplomacy, can we all agree that black metal is just silly ?
