REALLY good hard rock songs man. Definitely two of my fav. metallica albums.

This song is REALLY good IMO

They aren't my favorites by any means (although they are getting better by comparison with crap releases like Lulu), but there are songs on both that I like.

Until It Sleeps, Wasting My Hate, and Fixxxer to name a few.

for some reason, even though I LOVE the old metallica, and I love Death Magnetic, I feel metallica would do a lot better writing Hard rockish tunes like Load/Reload from now on. They really have that groove down and it doesn't feel so "stiff" compared to the newer stuff which although great, you can feel they're trying too hard to stay "HEAVY"

IF James would only stay in the load/reload vein :)

Bleeding Me (one of metallica's best songs ever written in my humble opinon)

I saw them live 18 times, And james live tone during those two tours were the worst ive ever heard. It was like he rolled his volume knob down to a slightly distorted clean during the old Stuff Sounded like sh#T.
I agree some of the tunes are good though, Just was a shock coming off the black Album It Threw people for a loop. But his tone live now Blows Those tours away no comparision.

Honestly with a little more of a metal bite (and a lack of makeup/semen on the album artwork), Load and Reload could have been pretty popular albums. The songwriting was more creative than what they've done since. Even if Death Magnetic is more metal, it felt forced. Like they sat down to write metal songs whether or not they were feeling them.

Old and new metallica arn't even the same band. James needs to stop fucking trying to sing or whatever the hell he does now, yell/yodeling/yehaw

whooooaaa, ooohyaeaaa

as much as I like hetfield, you're correct. to me the load tours was the peak....he had some of that old school growl and some of the newish "cleaner" vocals all mashed in there.

Devils Dance - great stripper groove song. Carpe Diem Baby has a nice grind as well. They wrote some stripper metal. Even old guys want to rock

This thread is timely.

I'm a long time Metallica fan, but I may have only listened to Load once. Didn't like it. Was flipping through my Ipod this morning and thought to myself that many years have gone by, maybe I should try it again. I got 30 seconds into the 1st song.............. :aww:

Load was James' best album vocally IMO. It didn't show him at his edgy, pissed-off best, but as far as using his voice and showing his range, it definitely sounded great. Also, there wasn't any strain or annoying tones in his voice like there is now.
Can't blame him for his voice being shot though, I mean, he has been yelling for the better part of 30 years...

I always said if Load was another band's debut album, and not Metallica, I would have absolutely LOVED it! But it was Metallica....so I bitched like everyone else.

This is my opinion too...... if it was another band's album it would have been praised.

I still find some of the more creative stuff from metallica is in those two albums..... plus some REALLY good songwriting.

Outlaw Torn, Fixxxer, Bleeding Me, The Unforgiven II etc etc are really good songs IMO,

While there are a few songs on each album that I do like, all in all they are probably 2 of the metallica albums that I found to not dig that much. The one I hate the most is st. anger. The sad thing is the first time I heard metallica was with St. Anger  Which actually sounded decent when I first heard it. Then I listened to the black album and was like :inlove: , then I went farther back to the original 3 albums and was like :rawk: :worship: :worship:  :salute: \:D/

Im also with you, I thought Death Magnetic all in all was a good album. My favorite album by them overall since the black album.

Most people like LOAD better than RELOAD but I'm the exact opposite. Most of LOAD, I can't even listen to. Some of it is ok but songs like "Poor Twisted Me" make me depressed. :)

For me, Ronnie and Outlaw Torn are the best songs from both albums, Ronnie being slightly higher IMO. Friggin can't get enough of that song...

This is some of the dumbest shit you've posted yet, and that's saying something. What do you mean by "do a lot better"? They are the biggest Metal band in the world.

Hopefully this wanna-be-alternative bullshit period of Metallica is behind us. There are a few good ones on these 2 albums but they are pretty much at the bottom of the Metallica barrel along with St. Garbage....and that latest thing doesn't even look good on paper...

Death Magnetic is a step back in the right direction except for the horrid production.

I see, if I post dumb shit, you're a stupid person for reading my dumb shit I guess

To me the Black album was the last Metallica album. Load was just that, a lod of crap IMHO. They're not the same band.
