Very curious about your thoughts on how it is compared to Friedman and Helios. I was trying to decide between the Landry, Helios or MetroPlex. They all seem like such killer amps.

yeah, the metroplex will remain a mystery for me for at least a little bit unfortunately!

The Landry and BE are the most alike. (The Landry feels better to me and has a better clean) The Helios is between these two and the MP. And the MP is the most raw hot rodded plexi tone of them all. Just the way my ears hear it. And my fingers feel it.

Landry just arrived today - initial reaction is its a beast!

Awesome. Wondering how it compares from your fresh perspective.

Bill is building mine now. :D

i wonder where the ceriatone king kong would fit in this comparison?

jounrneyman73 ....... HOW's THE LANDRY ?????
Hope ur having a great time!

still putting it through its paces!

do you guys ever find the landry can lack bottom end, even with the bass dimed and pretty high on the resonance knob?

Is the LS100 G3 a brand new amp?

I did hear that there was a period of time in the beginning of the year that the LS100 needed to have the bass and depth knobs dimed to bring the boom. The latest spec supposedly has much more bass. I heard that from an incredibly reliable source. ;-)

I wonder why nobody mentions the PWE EH3. Isn't that also an amp in the same direction (I never played one, just judging from YT clips and forum threads)...?

Ok, thanks for the infos. Interesting to hear, as there is a lot of discussion on TGP on them. And I was always curious how much the additional tweaks on the back of the amp bring to the table.

PWE's are killer amps, amazing build quality, and I think many innovative features, and they look super cool. Ted has been around for some time building amazing guitars and amps. I also think $2700 for a 3 channel amp with all the features it has is extremely reasonable. Just my 2 cents.

How do you know that anything this guy is saying is true? This is mudslinging, not information.[/quote]

Well I don't know if everything/anything is true and I haven't said so, right? Nevertheless I appreciate very much his open opinion and can understand some of his points and find them helpful. And sharing ideas, impressions and experiences is part of these forums and the Internet.

Don't get me wrong: I never touched/played/heard any of your amps in person, nor have I ever had any contact to you, your company or any of your sales channels. Therefore I would not judge any of your amps and for sure not you as a person or your company before having some first hand experience. I just wondered why your products haven't shown up in this discussion yet, as the EH3 seems to be very similarly positioned to the amps discussed above. And the guys on TGP are intensively discussing your products. You have grown some very happy advocates with your products, so I guess your amps are actually pretty good.

I didnt want to open pandoras box with my question and for sure do no harm to anybody, I was plain curious to be honest. Its good that you jump in to bring your view to the table and also describe what the differentiators of the EH3 are (as all of these excellent amps are somewhat similarly reading descriptions, reviews etc.)...

This thread delivers

:checkthisout:

I know that PWE was one of the brands Fat Sound used to carry and wonder if some of the "supply problems" stem from the late antics of Stu Carter taking orders, pocketing deposits, and never actually ordering amps. Don't know this to be a fact but do know that this happened a lot with other orders in the late days of Fat Sound.

Amp building is a tough business. Picky customers, high costs, low margins. The field is littered with great builders with great products who just couldn't make it go. So I can see builder getting frustrated.

Still, bad move Mr. PWE. This was a chance to educate and tout your products. Instead you've alienated a potential customer and probably a few more who will read this thread.

Agree with Threadkiller. PWE, you should have used this as an opportunity to educate. You could have sold me. I honestly already had the EH3 on my list but I'm second guessing it now and it wasn't because of ubermetaldood's comments. I just don't dig on aggression, especially towards someone who was, as far as I could tell, complementing your product for the most part...and possibly a potential customer.

Not a problem Alex and I apologise if I came off as aggressive towards you. Usually, and this isn't directed at you, when people talk about amps, they should stick the features, tone etc. and leave any speculation out of it. Especially if they have no first hand experience. When he lumped me in with someone like Cameron (who I respect as an amp builder) it was kind of over the top and uncalled for.

No problem and I can understand your feelings as your business is of course something you are very proud of (and can be). Maybe I will sometime in the future have the chance to hear an eh3 in person...

All good on my side!

Sorry you guys took it that way. No aggression intended but when a guy singles me out for absolutely no reason I have to defend myself. As far as I could tell this was a Metroplex/Landry thread so out of respect for those builders I didn't want to come here and promote my products. And, yes, the whole Fatsound thing caused problems for me and some other small builders so when a dealer owes you a ton of money and is telling people that I'm not sending product, he's kind of telling half the story. I've personally built and sold over 200 amps the past 4 years so I'm doing just fine. He was indeed complimenting my product, and I appreciate that, but when he started ragging on my business when there is no way that he could know anything about it, I had to respond. And just for the record, I've earned my place as much as those other companies with a great deal of hard work and sacrifice.

Ted

singled you out? someone specifically asked about your amp and someone else shared their opinion - thats how it works, you know that.

im confused - you didnt have issues with supply and production or you did its just they were all stu's fault?

the funny thing is (and i can tell you probably wont care based on this thread participation) i had just been doing some pwe searches on TGP because i love M-style amps and even though im loving my landry im always eager to check out new stuff. you killed my interest pretty quickly, however.

OK. That's enough. It's my thread. Ted, thanks for clarifying. You're back on my list and you're absolutely invited to discuss your amp. :-)

I'm interested in any amp Doug Rappaport plugs into, and Pete Thorn for that matter. Haha! Those 2 guys are the cause for most of my GAS and my diminishing bank account. Lance K. is coming up on that list as well.

Back to discussion.
