Wonder who's desicion it was to split? Fortin or Randall? Randall hasn't made a good desicion since Don Randall. They're always too little too late. $1200 solid state amps, horrible reliability, and just plain blah sounding amps have been their business model since US music took over.
Their Fortin-designed amps like the Thrasher and Diavlo series sound great. They are still on the Randall website, so I guess they are going to continue to sell them.

Owned a Diavlo for a day. One of the most flubby muddy amps I've ever played. I do still own an RT503 and its much tighter and a lot better sounding than the Diavlo.

I had a rd50- it was that first batch that was redisgned before they changed the cosmetics and went with "rd45". I heard it was the same amp, but my rd50 was the opposite of flubby- it was super tight and lethal. If anything, it was so tight that I thought I should get a depth mod added, I winded up flipping it for being too tight, lol.

Maybe Mike can come back around. He used to post and was a very active member here.

I LOVE mine. Worth EVERY FUCKING PENNY.
Yep
Every penny ;)
I'd send him another one in a heartbeat. How much is it worth to get the best modder in the buisness to work on your shit who is absolutely a standup, great guy and has developed mods that nobody has ever done before?
Whatever he tells you its worth :D :D

Mikes pricing is right in line with Gowers. Im already saving for another.

Yep!!! Gowers work is also killer!!!! Love my KK++!!!!

I know a guy who got a ground-up build hulk that is crushing. IMO, stuff from Fortin and others are worth every penny when they are doing the work themselves. A Natas or Meathead is worth it for Mikes attention to detail, but the Randall ones are not. The number of returns to Randall bear out my hypothesis.

If I am not mistaken Randall has their amps built by Smarvo Electronics in China. Egnater also I think and some others.

I thought I read somewhere that Friedman amps have their circuit boards populated by them (or someone else) in China and final assembles here?

Uh oh....... :gethim:

Remember Rockstah mods? I think they were 500? And by all accounts that was an extremely easy mod for most techs to do. I had a Fortin Cali Ceriatone. Freaking work of art in there.....and no easy task. Lots of time/work involved. Not sure about the criticism? Just don't do it if you don't want to pay. Tim Caswell lives 40 minutes from me, his mod is 800 last I checked. None of these are cheap.

I heard of this guy Bill Blades that is doing mods too. Anyone hear of him? wonder how his mods compare to Fortin?
