I never heard of Mike specifically but knew that Ibanez and also Yamaha had Custom Shops with some excellent

designer/luthier teams capable of doing great stuff.

Nice to know about him, can't help wondering about an ultra long tenon set neck Strat Type in Mahogany or Koa.....

Rob,
He builds a hell of a guitar and his fretwork is impeccable. Mine is Korina neck and body. Mango top. Rosewood board. The tone of this guitar surprised me allot. Rings out and resonates. Great full spectrum tones and Mike is a great guy to talk to. He follows up and wants to know you are happy with the guitar. He said he will build any specs as well.

Yep, and I am a massive Kotzen fanboy (see my avatar?)  . He actually inspired me to start playing guitar so I wanted a Starfield Cabriolet ever since. As I'm sure you know, they are quite difficult to find.

So when I stumbled across this handmade LACS version, I nearly shit my pants. The wallet came out instantly

It is indeed an amazing guitar!!!
Hi. I’m Mikes daughter. I think I have the starfield prototype unfinished neck.

Im also selling my custom 87 Jem if anyone is interested! It was made for Steve and he ended up changing his mind in stuff so my dad gave it to me in 1989.

That seems like it could be a pretty amazing guitar. You might want it appraised or looked at by an Ibanez guru before selling so that you know what you really have there. I know a little about the JEM but don't know that I'd be able to spot a prototype or one-off.

I bought one of your dad's 7-string guitars a few years back and he was a super nice guy. Talked to me on the phone about it and ended up rebuilding the neck for me. I had plans to buy others, I was so impressed. Very sadly he passed away soon after, though. Really sorry for your loss.

I might have a couple for sale that were new and made for NAMM 2019. I kept all of them.
