I had one. They are very nice cabs and the service is top notch. I prefer the sound of Bogner and Mesa cabs for my needs but they are great cabs.

For me, these are the best cabs I've played hands down - but different cabs/speaker combos suit different purposes. What's best for me may not be best for you. That being said, the Mills cabs are tough to beat.
my thoughts exactly.

Damn. I need to get a couple of mills cabs. Any one compare the 412 to the 212? Or the 212 to other 212s?

Killzone. I cant wait to hear your comparison of the savage and blackmore. The savage was my end all be all amp for a long time.

Yup!! And Ill be borrowing an Invader for a short time too, I was going to record all 3 in one clip and see how they compare! :D

oooh, looking forward to hearing that man! I love your clips. I've had my SE for a while now, and it's become a keeper for me, love the way that amp sounds for all things metal. The Savage and Invader really interest me too after owning it. Is that the PB II you are getting, or the second revision of the first series?

I have never heard V30s sound so good as when in a Mills cab. The cab design really adds a sweet, extended top end, widens out the infamous upper mid 'spike' making it creamier, and really fills out the bottom/low mid thickness of V30s, greatly adding to what the V30s may lack in some cabs.

If you love V30s, this is THE cab to have.

If you don't like V30s, this cab may change your mind.

If you absolutely hate V30s, you will hate them a little less in this cab

I've had a bunch of cabs and the Mills is my clear favorite. The best sounding V30 cab I've ever heard too (though I'm not running V30s in it any longer). Like others have said, it's not the "be all, end all" cab, but it's very tough to beat and I have no complaints with mine.

What speakers are you using now?

Yeah, the SE is awesome but sooo expensive. It's the powerball 1 V2, one that a guy here is selling locally, modded to have 2 effects loops. Not sure I'll use both of them but hey, the higher end engls all have 2.

I've always wanted to see how these would stack up to my Voltage cab. The sound you're talking about is very representative of it. If any of you guys are in Canada, consider that your alternative, because you will love it.

yeah, definitely wouldn't be buying an SE new, but used they can be had pretty reasonable. I stole mine, figuratively speaking of course. ;)

Interesting that it was modded, I don't know many guys that will even repair them, much less mod them. Can't wait to hear some clips man.

I had a friend up there that was going to snag one, but it didn't pan out. They look very nice indeed. Anything different or unique about the build quality/design on those?

Celestion G12-80s. I yanked them from my Marshall 1982a and put them in the Mills. May have cured my speaker GAS as well. I had V30, K100s and just about every WGS speaker made (in just about every combination) in the Mills before that. Really happy with the G12-80s.

Well, mine is the VB 412, so it's got a 2-piece back, a 1/3 and 2/3 pannel. The bottom 1/3 can be removed so that it's semi open-backed. I haven't given that a shot yet, but it's really responsive on the bottom end, just as James's amps are. I haven't even looked inside it yet, but it's heavy and sounds glorious. I believe it's 13ply voidless birch.

I would call the Mills a brick house that holds speakers. A very big sounding cab with a lot of bass but lacks a resonant woody character. The Classic is the smaller version, isn't as open but has the same vibe. I think they are great cabs if you are a high-gained metal player that likes to do chugga chugga but not for the vintage players. YMMV IMO.

I half agree. Mine sounds not quite as woody as my Bogner but far woodier/more resonant than any Front load cab. Yes alot of bass but alot of midrange/high end detail as well. Its just as suited for the vintage player who plays vintage amps but wants to add a different dimension to their tone. For the vintage guys for whom the farting bass in most Marshall cabs is part of their tone, then no the Mills is not for them.

:hys:

I played several Plexi's through my Mills and liked it through that as well as the Marshall style cab I had. It was different but not in a bad way.

I don't think the Mills is just for heavy stuff but to each his own.

You are correct sir! Yeeesss! :D

This is the "high gain" rig:

The Mills Afterburner 4X12 sounds great, no scratch that, amazing with the Savage 120... it adds just the right amount of bass and low end thickness and warmth, that really compliments the Savage. I posted a review of my Mills 4X12 on HCAF.

Short version: Buy one.
