Mojotone kits good for mods???

Are these kits good for Daves mods??? In particular their JTM 45 kit? People always seem to get their JMP/JCM Marshalls modded but is the JTM 45 platform mod-able too? Trying to see if i can get the BE/HBE + Sat switch, loop and simple clean OR the Naked/APC mod done to it.

Well most of the time they come with Carbon comp resisters and solid core wire. Neither work very well sonically for the mods. Also not that much room so keep it simple.
 
Dave, I thought that carbon comp resistors were all that was used back in the vintage days of amp construction...Allen Bradley in particular. Care to comment on why Mojos use of carbon comps is not sonically ideal ?

You mean you can hear a difference in sound between solid core sand stranded wire? :aww: :confused:
What are their differences in tone?

Yes, there is difference between the two. Try a solid core instr cable and compare it with an average instr cable to see for yourself.
 
Carbon comps were mostly used in Fender amps. Not in Marshall's. Just isn't to my liking.
 
Dave, can you tell us the differences you hear in an amp between solid and stranded wire ? :confused:
 
What did Marshall use ? Carbon film ? Just trying to educate myself.
 
Carbon film with maybe a couple of carbon comp sometimes.
 
Everything is different. Every part every kind of cable etc. It's all about the recipe.
