Oh great they made it shitty. Shitty transformers all pc mount build etc. That is not like the amp they modeled it from. Why does Marshall do this stuff. All they have to do is take there reissue 800 and mod it with the specs and bam you got the amp it was made from.

My thoughts exactly. what a let-down. No hand-wiring in China I guess! I was looking forward to this amp but believe I am now much less interested and will let you build me a proper AFD from a proper vintage Marshall.

Steve

Dave, go next door and pick on Matt for awhile about this. Tell em I said hi :)

I don't really expect anything from Marshall these days. To bad for all the people that got all hyped up with this project...

Could Dave do an AFD mod?

Yup......

Yeah worked on Slashes amp. His main favorite amp that the Afd started from.

Was something about the 6550's sounding tighter. They talk about it in one of the AFD100 R&D-videos.

I think I saw that on the blog too. But, seems to me if they want to recreate the SIR #34, 36 or 39, all they got to do is take the 59HW's and make the tweaks that made over at SIR to the original Super Trem or JMP or JCM and get a true replica. Instead, they are designing a complete new amp, buy what looks to be a 22 year old who was shittin green when AFD was recorded, complete with cheaper components to try and replicate the tone. Doesn't make much sense to me.

Steve

You gotta admit, it doesn't sound bad on the clips though.

Sounds bad ass for sure.

Can't see what that has to do with the choice of tubes, but...

What, the overall tone of the amp? Quite a bit.

You mean Slash's modded 2203? The one with no logo on it? Could you tell us more about the mod?

Apparently there are going to be two different versions: Limited Edition and Collector Edition. I wonder if one will feature some higher quality construction (i.e. hand-wiring, better transformers, etc.)?

Right now the inside word is that the collectors edition will be covered in snakeskin tolex. That is one big thing Marshall[Korg] company is thinking over at the moment.
Or they may just back down and go with the silver jubilee tolex on the collectors edition.
You gotta know when they went with the 1st ever silver chassis outside of the silver jubilee's it is coming. Stay tuned.......

I'll take a Marsha or a modded Marshall from Dave any day over this.

BTW, that rack looks great.

Victoria Marshall has yet again proven she knows nothing about what players want, the new slash resembles more of my home PC or TV than my Vintage JMP's, ........This winter i'm gonna see if Dave will do the BE, HBE, fat, gain cut & sat switches on my EL-34 2203, now that's an amp, how bout it Dave, say around X-mas?
