As the title suggests: what, in your opinion, is the most brutal amp ever made? NB - people's definition of what constitutes "brutal" will obviously vary, but clearly this category doesn't include a Fender Bassman or a Dumble

I'm going to have to go with the new DAR FBM.

Close runners-up are the 5150/5150 II, Diezel Herbert, and Uberschall.

The Fortin Natas seems to be incredibly brutal.

What does brutal mean? Amount of gain and low end? Then probably some solid state amp. I often find that brutal doesn't = good.

As you said, opinions vary.........FJA modded Single Rec (50 watt) turns my crank.....something about that voicing just does it for me.

First off depends on the player, you can give a man a titanium 10 pound splitting maul with carbon-fiber handle but if he can't swing it...............................

Second.................those Dar guys are just really nice guys that have SUCH original designs!!!

if i were going to play nothing but BRUTAL fucking metal I would snatch up an Engl Invader in a heartbeat, with a Rackmount Dual Recto a close second.

To me, brutal means gain, saturation, tightness and low-end.
I'd have to go with the ENGL SE.

Oh boy....

I may have opened a slight can o'worms

Some people might think the mid-range snarl of a modded Marshall as the most brutal?

I always thought my Framus Cobra was pretty gnarly. Oddly enough, it's the clean channel where I really get my jollies on that beast.

But so far, I might have to concur with Spirit7 on the Future Breed Machines. I'm actually considering putting my Cobra up for grabs on R-T to go towards one. But.. she would be missed!!

I should probably add that, although it's brutal, I've personally not really enjoyed the FBM clips that I've heard so far. I really hope someone posts one where a tone OTHER than the Meshuggah-chug is evident. I like that tone on record, but wouldn't want it as my tone...

The uber has a shitpile o gain but I wouldn't exactly consider it brutal!
