Motherf$*@king Thieves

The Card I had was used over in the UK a week before Xmas. Luckily Capitol One was on top of it and stopped it at $40 and shut it down. They seem to keep track on what and where I buy, as they shut it down once before for something I purchased on my Biz Card. Apparently a Mac Air is not a normal purchase for a company and was out of the ordinary…. but I would rather have the little inconvenience than a huge fraud issue.

Hopefully all you have to do is dispute the charges and they will take care of it. Lucky for me the Charges were still pending so the blocked them and fixed my acct.

Good luck Steve

Any Ideas how it was compromised?

yeah, Rupe did it

no idea really. i don't use the card online except for a couple of fairly secure places and not very often at that or even at an ATM. i am wondering if there is some PayPal breach?

Ever use your card when you go out to eat? It's common for the waiter to take your card and they walk off with it and you can't see them, then they can skim it and actually sell the info to other scammers.
I believe that is what happened to mine at a Irish restaurant…. I walked up to the bar to buy 2 bottles of Egg nog for gifts and she took my card in the back for what seemed longer than normal but I can't be completely sure…. :gethim:

Had the same thing happen to me at the end of November. My Credit union caught it in about 20 minutes but they still managed to rack up over $600.00 in charges. I got one of the Pre Paid CC at MY house too!
With the name "Kenneth B Royal". Anybody else had that name show up at your house? I'd sure like to meet "Mr. Royal" :gethim:

I had a joint Visa account with my wife four years ago. Imagine my surprise when her card got scanned/scammed by someone and there's an $8000 charge for cupcakes in Long Beach, Ca.

I canceled her card the next week. And no, I wasn't charged, but I no longer have any shared credit with her except the mortgage. Hell, she makes more money than I do anyway, she's probably safer not having me on her account.

Dude, I ran out of red bull, gummi bears, and cheez-its...and I'm in the middle of an epic gaming session. Got another card # for me? :D

Shelly  Shes the Boss!

Someone used a card I cut up and haven't used since 2008 to purchase something worth $25. Not a lot of money I know, but that's ridiculous. Getting the account completely cancelled has been a hassle too.

Sorry man. Hope you get it straightened out.

Sorry Stevie...that sucks.

Remember, karma's a bitch, and if that's not comforting, a few smashed knee caps seem to work wonders in the 'lesson learned' department.

Just sayin'.

When i saw "theives" i was trying to picture Arabs on camelback trying to steal all your mApZ............

Sorry to hear about that Steve.
Had someone hack into my Paypal using SKYPE a few years back. They were from the UK.
When I contacted Paypal....they fixed it and sent me a Security Key that changes the code everytime I log into my account.
My Password is still the same...but I have to add the random number that is given by my Key when I push the button.
Have not had a problem since.
Hope it all turns out well.
Here is what the Key looks like.
(and no thats NOT MY KEY!) just a stock pic.

Friend of mine had his bank account hacked last month and they took $6000 the first day. The idiots used it direct to pay their electric bill .... that gave all the info needed to get them.

A other friend I worked with years ago had his ID stole and they took $280,000 and then racked up $160,000 in credit. Ruined his life .... his wife killed herself over it about six months later. None of it was ever resolved. This was about ten years ago....

Wow Danno. That is cool as shit. None of the charges came directly through PP. But, it is a good source of info, as my debit card would have been linked. Not anymore though. I am going to ask about this though.
