I ordered a bridge pickup from Motor City Pickups (2nd degree Black Belt) last week.

How did you order your pickup? I'm trying to order a pair myself, but I can't figure out what the "Add to Cart" on their website is trying to do. It takes me to PayPal, but there's no invoice or anything to pay.

Is there a phone number one can call? (I tried the number 734-535-4590 mentioned in an older post from 2012, but it's no longer in service.)
I ordered via the web site. It did redirect me to paypal without any problems.

I don't know the phone, have not tried to call. I did get an email form Wade and the delay time is between 2-3 weeks.

Phil

Agreed. I love his pick-ups, but that website is long overdue for an overhaul. I just don't understand what the problem could be.

Wade got back to me and told me what the problem was/is. Apparently, at the present time, on the MCP website the "Add to Cart" link correctly functions for the Single Humbucker option, but not for the Matched Pair of Humbuckers option. This is why you (Phil) were able to order your single pickup, but I couldn't order my matched pair of pickups.

Till the website gets fixed, Wade found a clever work around: If you want a matched pair of humbuckers, simply use the Single Humbucker option and then after the "Add to Cart" link takes you to the PayPal site for making payment, change the quantity from 1 to 2. Note that before clicking on the "Add to Cart" link, you'll want to include the remark "Matched Pair" in the "SPECIAL NOTES" section on the MCP website, so it's obvious you're interested in both a bridge humbucker and a neck humbucker. Works like a charm!

And once again wades shitty website causes problems for buyers.

I've been one of many vocally complaining about that site since 2009. It seems it will NEVER change which is a shame as it only hurts business.

Hell because of it I started trying other brands and have at least ten humbuckers I would have gotten from wade it it wasn't so annoying to decide on a pickup and place an order without a personal phone call.

Wade is a super nice dude and the quality of his product is well worth the wait.
He took around 1.5 months with my Solutions, but to be fair it was around Christmas.
Through out the process he kept me updated, so I can't complain.

Im sure he's a great dude, and after having a set of detroiters his pups are awesome.; but after looking at that Shitty unorganized website for a couple years, it has kept me from ordering from it... I dont think he even has a current list of what he's selling...

Yup. Wade is a pleasant man and his pickups are ace. Neither are a credible excuse for he website and the communication issues.

I ordered multiple sets from wade, I was never kept up to date at all. None of my pickups shipped in the estimated time either, that I won't hold against him, I know it's a small operation and he's flooded.

The site in no way reflects what's actually available , I dunno ever.

It seems only rig talk rumors allow you to find out what going on , i have even heard of pickups here that never even came out.

I don't get it, if he can't get it together himself why the hell hasn't he just paid someone else to do it right?!

I got into MCP in 2009, that's five years of that bullshit website driving me crazy. I buy all my MCP pickups used now.

I sent an email asking this but got no reply.
24/48 hours for a reply via email usually, but the new site will address approximate current build times, average build times, etc.

This is exactly the statement I would make about bareknuckles. The motor cities are my favorites.
EXACT same sentiment here, had Bare Knuckles, thought okay these seem to work, tried MCP & was like 'wow, you mean MCP can give me all that modern attack & bite of Bare Knuckles but in a much more musical & versatile context...sign me up!

I've swapped out several models, and I just can't say I was terribly impressed by any of them.
:aww: That may be user error because these pickups are in fact 'THE STEEZ!'

2nd degree BB with 500K volume pot is the best les paul bucker I've ever played.
HELL YEAH! Good man ;)

Wade doesn't take calls as readily any more; he knows he is a talker and will stay on the phone for hours, which in turn interrupts his work and gets him behind.
Word, when he aint on a call, he is winding, potting, soldering, packaging, delivering, etc.

I agree!! I have one in my Hertiage 150CM and it rocks. Ordered the Detroiter bridge/T-Rex neck for this guitar and found a used 2nd Degree that I put in before the Detroiter/T-Rex came in. Kept the 2nd Degree in and put the Detroiter off to the side for now.
BAM SON!!!

The new website is in fact coming. It has been a long time in the works & we are really pounding hard through a lot of the details to make sure everything works perfectly for launch. A lot of big things are coming for Motor City Pickups & the website will be one of them.

That is good to hear!!

Just put a Detroiter in my LP trad pro II and it made a big difference for the better. The classics.........they were ok. Then went to Dimarzio 36th's..........they were ok. Now it sounds much better and bigger. Good news to hear about the website though. I do think that does turn some people off for sure.

I just got this:

1619395_10202907090935218_499471875_n.jpg

loaded with Motor City Solution Pickups and complete Jimmy Page wiring with push/pulls on every pot - couldn't be happier … The Solutions are heavy but split well and clean up nicely….

Pickups took a few weeks to get but are well worth it!

Yeah the solutions are definitely the modern metal pickup of the MCP line. Awesome axe buddy! :)

Thanks. I love the guitar....It was done by Chaisson Custom guitars in Tampa...I should have mentioned that right off the bat as he totally hooked me up...The fiddle is fitted with top parts and the pickups are no exception....

What amazes me is how well they do crunch and cleans...They are the best pickups I have owned and I've been through a lot...Not many boutique ones so to speak but most of the top models of top brands...The MCPs are truly the solution to my pickup dilemma...I have Lollars, Dimarzios, EMGs, Duncans, Gibsons, Fenders, etc...I don't think I will need another LP after this one but if I ever got another I would not hesitate to put these in again...

Only for those who don't have, or have never tried the elusive hell baby.

THAT thing is special and I'm glad I've held onto mine.

I just scored a detroiter on ebay, somebody tell me what to expect, this is a new one for me.

When mcp got started they had three pickups in the extreme line, solution, hell baby, and nuke. I couldnt decide so i got them all, the hell baby stayed, permanently.

Here is the non confusing page on thier site that says you can buy them
Even though they no longer exist.

I guess the shitty website is good for something. ;)

As far as wait times, I am currently on a month + for an afwayu. It was ordered on February 19th. I love Wades pickups and own a Detroiter and a Nasty Nasty, but the wait time sucks.

The wait well worth it IMO!! There are other great pickup manufacturer's out there, but I really love the MCPs. My only complaint is that he is discontinuing the Angel Dust, which is one my favs!! The Garuda is also another fav of mine!!

How do you like the Nasty Nasty? & how do you feel it compares to the Detroiter?
