I was part of that DoubleTrouble/the Jam 28 years ago (left side/Homer Simpson shirt)
Apparently he didn't had much clothes for this clinic tour

As most of you stated here, his tone and sound got worse over the years.
I liked it with the Lee Jackson modded Marshalls, I liked it with the ADA preamps (Extreme Vol I & II)
I liked it with the Ampeg Lee Jackson VL1002 (1993) and with the Laneys.

Maybe its because he became nearly deaf and using hearing aid

Been that way for years... Eric Martin is an amazing singer! That song is an oddball one to pull out of such and extensive catalog of really great songs
