Hi!
First, welcome! Really cool to see the new folks here :D

I have an RM4 and RM100, and am looking for some new modules (of course!)
I have heard your mods are tops, and saw the video with you and George Lynch working on a Brahma (proto I think?).
I also heard the Plexi mod you do is same/similar to the one you did for Steve Stevens (when he was still using MTS)?

So, just wondering.. Brahma Mod= George's '68 Plexi? Plexi Mod = Steve's '70's Metal Face (JMP 2203? NMV?) ?
Would love the scoop on these two please, and what options one would have when sending either/both in to you for mod'ing.
thanks!!!

I'd like to know this as well.

Dave, you might want to just make a sticky for the forum listing each of your MTS mods and the cost because you'll probably get a lot of these same questions over and over.

Wow- sticky would be very cool, and even cooler would be a list of mods with the "stock target" of a mod (for instance.. "Brahma, Lynch Mod= bring closer/correct to George's Brahma, based upon his '68 Plexi"). Common "super mods" you might offer would be cool as well, such adding to a circuit with, say, mid-boost, gain boost/cut, etc.

Probably could fill several threads with ideas, opinions and options tho, huh? :D

I'd like a list of all mods Dave does to the MTS and Egnater modules!

Well, I will try. I have never moderated a forum before so hang on. To answer a few questions the Brahma or plexi mod are the same except the plexi is just a little brighter. Now the Brahma from the factory is not correct. So there you go. Price for all mods are 100.00 no matter what unless it's one i am doing for the first time for you and then its 150.00. Turn around is about a week or two. Dave Friedman

Dave,

No worries brother and welcome again. I have added myself as a moderator in your forum to help you out any way I can. To make a sticky that stays at the top of your forum go ahead use the new topic button as usual and before you post it just click the option to make a Sticky and it will stay at the top of your section.

Any questions just pm me but it is easy, hell I just learned all this, this week

Two big thumbs up for Dave's Brahma module; it's hands down one of my favorite modules. Big and open sounding, has that real marshall mid-range that made Marshall famous in the first place, juicy sounding with harmonics I haven't heard coming from a module before.

Unboosted it has a beautiful warm plexi crunch. Boosted it just plain rips!

Michael

Dave, in the video with George... is he plugged straight into the amp or is there a pedal in the chain? My Brahma isn't that gainy without a pedal in front. Or is this a "tone in the hands" thing?

That's because your Brahma isn't the right spec. All the Brahmas have been shipping wrong from the beginning and as far as I can tell still are. If you want it right send it to me. The plexi module also can be moded to be this. Dave

+1 on the BRAHMA module...designed(and mine's also been modded) by dave friedman, this mts module ROCKS! i've sold off Splawns & Soldano's because of the BRAHMA...killer,hot-rodded plexi tone, but the secret is to "boost it" with a good o/d pedal(which, btw,is how Lynch uses it too)

My Brahma was updated to your spec several months ago and I've been raving about it ever since... but I don't get the kind of unboosted gain that the video has. There really are so many variables at play.... No worries Dave, when I get a moment at home, I'll call you so that we can nail it down some more. I was really just curious as to whether George was plugging right into the amp or not. Killer sound!

That was right into it. The same spec as you have. Did I do the mod on yours? or did you buy it from someone?

Got this mod done by you a while back along with a Mr. Scary and a bunch of other MTS modules.

@Dave: So if I send a Plexi or Brahma, I could have either modded to the same result (ala the infamous Dave & George vid?)
Also, what tubes were run in that head (brand & type pls)? Speakers in that cab? The module tubes were Ei 7025... have you two found a suitable alternate?

@Michael: What tubes? Personally, I have not cared for the EH's that came in (some of) my modules (some used). Are the stock for new supposed to be Ruby? Different tubes have brought them to life (comparatively, and IMO). Those Ei 7025's are huge. IIRC, 7025's are a premium 12AX7?

Ei tubes have a certain sound very smooth. The ones I normally use are ARS brand Chinese 12ax7's both are good just different. Dave
