MURDERATOR
The cheap strings on musicians friend… they were doing a buy one get one 50% off so I got 10 packs. I don’t expect much but are they okay or trash? I have always had decent luck with strings so I thought screw it. 10 packs for $23 shipped.

I’ve seen posts that they use GHS to manufacture their strings, but either way I’m sure they’re fine. When I find deals like that I stock up too. To me that’s more important than brand. Never had a set that sucked from any brand except I don’t like the feel of coated strings.

Most of them are made by one of a few places and just slapped with whoever's brand. I used juststrings.com generic electric strings for a long time. DIRT cheap and they always held up better than name brands like Ernie Ball. Unfortunately dude retired and closed up shop late last year so now I'm buying Ernie Ball individual gauges. It's like 2003 all over again except I'm paying more.

I have used them on quite a few friends guitars and had no problems so far. Hardtails and floyds.

Thanks 🙏 I bought a bunch of dr silver star coated strings on reverb last year and honestly they kinda suck. I always had good luck with dr in the past but these are not doing it for me at all.

I buy cheap EHX strings ($4.99 / set) when MF has accessory sales. 9s and 10s

I only splurge on strings for my EBMM, getting sets of Ernie Ball RPS ~ $9 a set.

I got a bunch of packs of them before. They are fine for the most part. Actually, I just had a couple snap on Me in the last week. That never happened. Hopefully it’s just a bad batch.

I bought a couple sets a while back. They were ok but you really need to wipe them down as they left your fingers black. The EH strings someone suggested are better.

I have toxic hands. 🙌 my ph levels are odd or something because I ruin strings fast. Always have been like that.

I'm hooked on NYXLs, can hardly play anything else.

They feel and sound GREAT (noticeably better than almost anything else), last a very long time, and stay in tune better than most strings.

Buy 'em in bulk online.

Yes they are pretty much my favorite strings. I want to try some clear tones sometime as well.

Only other strings I use these days are Ernie Ball M-Steels, which tend to be even more expensive than NYXLs, but are said to be the loudest guitar strings you can buy (the EQ on the package shows Bass/Mid/Treble all at max). They definitely sound big and loud, although are not as slick feeling as NYXLs.

The M-steels are perfect for a dinky body Charvel I have that needed more oomph in the basement.

I've used Cleartone acoustic strings that were very nice, haven't tried anything for electrics yet.

I've always stuck with GHS because they seem to break far less often than other brands. Ernie balls and others just seem to snap so easily.
