Here is my first stab at tracking with my Kemper. I think it came out pretty good. No post processing outside of putting into T-Racks and upping the level a bit. 2 rhythm tracks panned hard left/right and one lead track down the middle. I didn't alter the profile at all, just plug and play. Used the profiles chorus, verb and delay on the lead. Guitar is tuned to C# with 12's. Need to go to 11's.

I used:
• Kemper
• FastRedPonyCar's Splawn Nitro profile on all 3 tracks
• PRS CE24 (Bareknuckle Ceramic Warpig
• Steven Slate Platinum for the drums

I literally hooked up my new monitors this morning, plugged in the SPDIF cable, grabbed a few drum loops and had at it.

It think it is VERY promising.

Forgive the sloppy leads.

Thanks!!! Trust me, I'm Jones Ing to do it. Trying to figure out the best way to do's separate profiles of different Mike's. I'm guessing I should run one or two Mike's into a small mixer and then the mixer out into the camper and just mute the tracks for the Mike's and start going back-and-forth profiling.

Lol! Thanks man. I literally have THE worst method for making clips.

I usually do it right before work (which always makes me late), I snag a few drum loops and fix them to my liking and just have at it. Do one rhythm track a few times to get something down, hope I remember it well enough to double and then one or 2 attempts at some improv soloing.

I really should start planning it a little better. Thanks for giving it a listen.

Worth noting, I got the Kemper, monitors and SPDIF cable all within the last 7 days. Never used SPDIF so it took me a minute to figure out how to make it work in Logic. Love it though. Point is, all this gear is still pretty new for me. Once I get it down, WATCH OUT!!!

Wow! Once heck of a throaty tone! .. good playing too...

Sounds great....did you get the profile with the dropped voltage?

Hehe sounds pretty much the way I noodle around these days with the exception that I do it after hours... So I'm too tired to remember what's going on LOL.

Are those M-Audio BX5's u got there? How do u like them with the KPA?!

I got all of his. I thought the Nitro would be a good fit for the vibe I was feeling this morning. I am really going to go through some of the better profiles I have gotten and will put together some better tracks. I have some power metal songs I have written that I want to track so I am excited to hear how they sound with the Kemper. This is the first modeler I have owned where the guitars really do sound like an actual amp pushing some air into the mic.

Suffice to say, I am pleased and I have only scratched the surface. The Kemper forum guys are such a great help.

Yeah man, I have a hectic job, and 2 teenagers. My free time is "limited" so it's catch-as-catch-can for recording. Thankfully now with this guy I can do it at 1am.

They are the newer BX8 Carbon's. Just got them Tuesday. I have some BX5A's for sale REAL cheap. They sounded good with the Kemper but wanted to treat myself!

Thanks! As I said before, you're kind of my "North Star" for all things Kemper! You always get bad ass recordings.

It took me a couple days to get familiar with the Kemper interface. So many buttons and options! Once I found everything, it was cake-walk. Everything fell into place.

Yeah man, I have the basic interface down now but there is still a lot I need to learn. I am worried I'll poke the bear too much and have to do a factory reset on it! LOL!

There are a lot of great folks out there that are really helpful. There is also a TON of info and it can be a bit overwhelming. Also, can sometimes be hard to get answers to issues specific to one persons set up as opposed to more broad topics.

Sounds killer Jer.

A couple of questions:

Are you running a power amp or powered monitors?

Have you cranked it up to band volumes levels yet? If so, whatcha think?

Mine is the non-powered version. For live purposes and rehearsal I am running an ISP Stealth power amp and Jet City 1x12 with V30. I will use my Splawn 2x12 for bigger stages though.

Here's the live rig as it stands now:

At band level I am VERY satisfied. I have only tried it with the corp band and our drummer uses V-Drums but we still play loud. The Kemper totally reacts to your playing. Now keep in mind, you HAVE to have a good profile to start with. Many of them SUCK! LOL!

So far Vrad / FastRedPonyCar / xRay profiles are the best I have used with the band. I got the TopJimi Marshall pack which sounds stellar as well but have not gotten to hear it through the new studio monitors or my live rig. I will soon though. My first night at rehearsal I used FRPC's Jet City 100H high gain profile and with just the volume knob got through Tom Petty, Orleans, Jewel, Journey and Styx. It really is an amazing piece of gear.

cool thanks man.

Been thinking about it....

I edited my post but was too late. I can't see pictured on this PC but checked on my phone and saw the lunchbox.

Yeah no worries. I am happy to answer any questions Kemper related.

I am also open to clip requests if people want to hear specific types of tones.

Ever find a GOOD or Accurate VHT Pitbull Profile?

Maybe a green Uberschall?

I have not yet heard a VHT profile that sounded like my Sig or D120. I have heard many that were not that great but in fairness, I listened to most of them on my headphones. I will revisit them asap. A buddy on another forum directed me to some profiles his friend did of his D60 that I will definitely check out. I'll let you know if they are worth a darn.
