For posterity when some guy digs up this thread in three years.. Here's something I put together to compare my old HRG C++ and this DRG III++. It's the only C++ clip I had with a cab I still own!

...and the real secret sauce, putting a 12AT7 in V2 to uncompress it.

No, the III++ is still not a C++. It's missing that chewy clarity that makes the C+ what it is. But, this setup is still pretty damn good on its own!
For the $$$, I’d take the III over the II. Sounded more aggressive also, which I prefer.
Unfortunately, the feel can't be translated through a video. The C+ feel is unlike any other high gainer that I've played. In the room the C+ will have greater harmonics that also don't translate to vids. But for the money, the III++ is a great deal. And Jeremy puts out some great recorded comparisons!

Yes the III++ is more aggressive than the C++. It definitely does not have the C feel, though, but being honest only the guy playing will ever know that difference. (..which can be a big deal to the guy playing.)

My DR & SR C+s had next-level harmonics. The HRG & DRG harmonics were not significantly different from my IIB or IIIs with the GEQ.

One nice thing about the III++ is I could take it to a gig and not be concerned about it. Taking a C++ out for a night on the town is a little more concerning. And, I'm of the opinion that if you're not going to use your good stuff then why have it? Just IMO.
