My sister had half a day to explore Seattle and nearly got attacked.

Like herbal/umami
Yes - well it's like the difference between a meat pie/sausage roll and an apple pie. Or the difference between a packet of potato chips vs a packet of lollies (you'd probably say candy). Or a packet of Arnott's pizza shapes vs an Oreo.
I'm still trying to figure out what @Thumbpicker means by "savoury".
Savoury vs Sweet Dichotomy.

Thumbpicker: You'd better abide by the laws of Utah
Acceptance: I don't live in Utah.
Thumbpicker: I don't live in Victoria.
Not sure if you saw the part about them making it a crime for anyone, anywhere. If it goes into law, I will be there first to vilify the people that inacted it. But I think you'd have more to worry about being in Australia than me in the US, even if you're not in Victoria.

I'll just make it a crime to be a Victorian Labor Politician because that truly is criminal imo.

I thought umami was like folding paper into swans and stuff?

Unami is a Japanese concept. Sort of like Seppaku/Hare Kiri/disembowelment... but applying to food.

When American GI's landed on Iwo Jima... they planted the flag and said "hmmm I feel like some Unami flavoured rice crackers" and that's how the legend of Unami began***.

*** On top of Iwo Jima the GI's could see the Earth's curvature when they squinted.

It's not vilification if it's true. We recently had a Chinese man throw coffee over a new born baby and he got away and fled the country. The media got roasted for not identifying his race because how else do you be on the look out for him. Later the media identified his race. Think about pollice profiling.... eg. US cop show.... "BOLO for Caucasian male" etc... how else do you know what you are looking for. So not vilification.... it is what it is... language identifying the person who did it.
Local news has found a detour; they show the perp's face when they can but no, can't identify him/her by race.
Not sure exactly when the criminals gained more rights than their victims, but here we are.

It's all drag queens and communisms from here on out, bro.

It was about 4:30pm in the afternoon. I wondered what time it was and asked her when I was talking to her. I walk 60-90 minutes every day. When my wife and I were in Paris we literally walked the whole city. You aren't going to see it in a car. If you dropped me in Seattle I wouldn't know where the bad spots are but maybe I wouldn't have been as naive as her. She told me it all looked fine and then she was told to go down Pine street on google maps and then things started to look seedy so to speak. So she got surprised by how quickly it went from normal to weird. That's my impression from the conversation I had. I had a look on google maps just now and said Chihuly gardens to pine street and it's only 1.3 miles - a 22 minute walk. I'm going to walk that far to church this morning. Not worth getting the car out for that.

Yep. Not easy. Respect.

If you had asked here, in OTC, if downtown Seattle is safe I would point you to - ...research I guess. I research every city before I go there. I know there will be seedy places no matter where I travel.
