I haven't posted one of these in a long while since I got tired of amp flipping and my wife got a job working from home and I couldn't crank a tube amp. Now she has a new job outside the home and I get to crank some tubes again. Just arrived at work so haven't got to play it yet. I know this amp and ones that don't do super high gain are not really everyone's cup o tea around here but I really like a lot of the clips of this amp so I thought I'd give her a go. Can't wait to crack open a cold one and have some fun tonight.

Congrats. It will sound great. Not the Wife can't crank the tube amp syndrome.
I have one of those. At least she goes out quite a bit.  I told her she was crazy so she got a therapist. That's one appointment after hours. She sees a Chiro once a week and I encourage her to take my Kid to Karate here and there. She has no problem with it or else I hand her a pair of headphones.  The frequencies of guitar bother her ears. How come they don't bother mine?

  My wife doesn't mind me playing my amps it was just she had to have dead quiet when she worked. I don't know what I'd do if she hated guitar frequencies. I'd almost have to consider divorce..... I kid... I kid. :D

Sounds like you've come up with some very creative ways to get her out of the house.

Congrats man! Been looking into these a bit, really dig it!

Congrats! I owned a GF45 and sold it for the very thing you mention - not enough gain.

You know for me it has plenty especially in the 80's setting but I don't play with super high gain. If I wanted more I'd just hit the front end a bit with a pedal and it would be fine.

Great amp!!! Love mine. Hit it with a cot 50 for just a hair more if it isn't enough gain. If you like it enough to keep it, get an NOS Mullard for V1 or 1 and 2. Crazy good amp. Takes some time to figure it all out but worth it.

If you have any questions- email me at steve@tonedogs.com

Thanks for the info Steve! Yeah this is my favorite amp from Bogner by far. Like you said "crazy good". Funny thing is I got it and left it where the guy had it set before me and really didn't do much knob turning and was having a blast for over and hour. I then started playing around with different settings and was like man this really versatile.

Charlie at Bogner loves this amp and the Shiva. You made a great choice.

I can see why. I've had a Shiva which I liked and a XTC classic that was cool as well. I just wanted them to be more on the vintage side instead of modern. The Goldfinger seems fit that bill for me. When I have spent some time with it I'll post my thoughts on it but you'll have to put an * beside my thoughts since I have no forum cred due to not posting clips. :D

Those are cool amps for sure!

I hear ya on the can't crank for the wife deal......what you can try is this.
Take a walk in closet (if you have an extra one) use what's called Green glue and add another layer of drywall.
Put thick mass loaded vinyl on the back of the door.....you have a crank chamber that will cut the external sound by up to 25db.
Worked for me. I can crank the hell out of it and it is barely audible in the rest of the house.
